I don’t do my brows regularly anymore but I think the hair fallout happened to me during makeup removal. Idk how to do it more gently though, maybe soak brows under cotton pads with micellar water or something.
No issues with removal luckily!!
I’ve never heard of that or experienced that, sorry. I’m thinking it must be the extra dainty eyebrow hairs theory!
Oil Cleansing!!
I keep meaning to share about this but I kept forgetting! It’s done amazing things for my skin.
A few months ago, my friend came to visit and we went to her herbalist relative’s shop. I bought a facial rose oil and she gave me a sample of hyaluronic acid serum. She recommended oil cleansing:
- Use a light, high-quality oil like jojoba or rose hip seed oil (google for options). Rub it all over your face and neck.
- Use a washcloth (I have one that’s now dedicated for this) and run it under hot water and then squeeze it out. Immediately take the hot damp washcloth and stick your face in it and gently pat away the oil. The steam injects moisture into your face and it feels really good! Repeat a few times until the oil is gone. After this step my skin looks amazing!
- Use a hyaluronic acid serum and then lock it in with a few drops of oil. I think if you wanted to reduce the number of products, just do the oil.
I’m usually very lazy about my skincare routine (um, sometimes I wash my face and put moisturizer on it?) but this process instantly made my face look so moist and youthful that I’m now doing it most nights!
Tomorrow I’ll share some very good and quite inexpensive products that I accidentally found, direct from a local manufacturer. They have a couple of formulations that I think are perfect for oil cleansing!
Sigh I wish oil cleansing worked for me. I’ve attempted a few times with various oils and it made me break out horribly each time. But I’m glad you’ve found something that works well for you!
Haha same!! Though when I was getting my acne under control, a fake double cleanse worked wonders (face massage with just about any oil, I used something from the kitchen), rinse with warm water, then wash the whole thing with my fav face cleanser (cerave foaming my beloved).
Look y’all. This is not cheap. BUT. BUT!! Hear me out. My skin is so fucking dry that even smearing it with vaseline every night and running the humidifier (which is going through almost a gallon of distilled water a night, this is also expensive!!!) was not getting rid of a particularly obnoxious cracked red patch of skin around my nose. ENTER THIS BALM. One night of it massaged into my parched face and I am like a newborn baby this morning.
I cannot use this in the summer, it breaks me out lol. But in January? Hell yeah, dude.
I can’t do this with full oil but it’s what I do with cold cream and that really helps!!
What cold cream do you use? I just bought noxema again because I needed one without thinking or research.
I’ve been using Kindri because it hasn’t got any petroleum products in it! It’s also accordingly more expensive, though.
I did not know such a thing exists! Off to google.
It does! And I really do enjoy the Kindri stuff, it’s good.
Does anyone have a face cream that you really like? I’m looking for a night time one that’s thick and hydrating.
I just use Cetaphil, the kind that comes in a tub!
I use Avene Cicalfate. It’s very thick and is basically a miracle cream. I live in the desert and use tretinoin and my face still never peels or gets dry because it is so magic
my favorite hydrating system is
- a few drops of good molecules facial oil on a damp face ($10)
- a layer of cerave daily moisturizing lotion on top ($13)
for my skin, thick creams don’t really sink in well. i have the cerave moisturizing cream and i feel like it just sits on my face. the lotion really gets in there and makes a difference.
but the annoying thing about skin care is that there’s really no way to know how something is gonna work on your skin until you try it
In winter my skin is so dry and miserable. Chicago winds lol. I love this one. Not cheap but a little goes a long way
I really like the e.l.f. Holy Hydration Face cream. It’s thick and hydrating, and it’s elf, so it’s not expensive. I use it at night (plus other stuff) and in the morning I use Cerave facial lotion because it’s lighter. I like that thick feeling at night but not necessarily for daytime, especially since I also put on sunscreen and makeup in the daytime.
okay so discussion of tariffs and skincare over in @anomalily 's journal has lit a small fire under my butt.
I have combo skin prone to hormonal acne and I am looking for:
- daily driver sunscreen (must have little to know fragrance, not feel heavy or oily)
- spot acne solution
- could always go for a moisturizer, especially anything for sensitive areas around the eyes
there’s talk of going in on a stylvana order, which I would be down with, or I can order solo.
any skincare divas with reccs?
I think @anomalily is going to do the order from a different Korean shop. But if you let me know what you want I’ll make sure it gets in the order! We’re texting about it.
