oh, good to know!
I genuinely don’t know where to start
maybe this will be today’s rabbit hole (combing this thread, looking up guides, etc.)

This is the sunscreen I was looking at:
But a certain someone said that she also likes this one:
It’s highly dependent on what your skin reacts to! I have similar skin, and here is some stuff I like. I know I typically react to ingredients associated with dandruff/fungal acne, ymmv.
K beauty spot treatment hasn’t been worth it for me, except the cosrx patches, but the hero brand also works as well and is easier to get. I use either a 2.5% benzol peroxide or a 15% azelaic acid, but regular exfoliants in my skincare routine mean I don’t break out that much anymore.
I use Biore Aqua rich Sunscreen, but it is scented. It’s extremely popular, so less likely to be irritating. On the fancier end, the beauty of josen (Korean formula) is very good (bff who reacts to everything does not react to it) and I’ve also been enjoying the skin1004 centella hyalu-cica water-fit sun serum (similar in texture to beauty of josen), no reaction issues. This is where I’m willing to spend a little more because usa sunscreens make my eyes sting instantly. These sunscreens usually give me most of the day/until I’m home until my eyes get irritated.
For moisturizer, I really like the Cosrx snail line, but I don’t know that it’s doing more for me than a basic cerave moisturizer is! Snail stuff seems to heal wounds slightly faster/cleaner for me, but it might also be fake.
i tend to be a little but not very sensitive, and i love the beauty of joseon one.
this also gets great reviews and may not be subject to tariffs but it’s a little pricier:
and the trader joe’s one is supposed to be great, too!
I’ve been using cosrx snail stuff and my skin is very happy
I find it soooo pleasing to use I think I am mega biased in it’s favor! I’m so glad it works well for you too!
Does anyone have korean sunscreen recommendations for kids? He’s in an outdoor camp where hey go into the water all summer. Would love to get a better sunscreen. He’s 5 for reference.
The regulations on waterproofness/sweatproofness for korean and japanese suncreens work differently than they do in the USA. Japanese sunscreens now have a waterproofness rating on the packing of either one or two stars, but it only has to meet half the spf after immersion in water, even for the two star rating (regulations apparently similar to how EU regs work). I don’t think korean sunscreens have the same labeling system, or what their regulations are. The USA and Australia have much more stringent standards for waterproofness for suncreen. I believe usa/australian sunscreen has to meet the full spf label even after 80 minutes of immersion.

My nibling who is the color of skim milk with very delicate skin gets full coverage sun shirts + beauty of josen sunscreen or Neutrogena Hydro Boost Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion (usa) for outdoor summer camp. The benefit to the sun shirt is it doesn’t require them to re-apply properly at lunch. Nibling gets a piece of chocolate rubber banded to the sunscreen and gets to eat it after they reapply the suncreen to their face at lunch. But that’s for a 7/8/9 year old, and not a ton of swimming. Sunshirts might be the easier lift lift, for any kid, especially for full body protection.
Very Pale Person with Small Pale Child here, sun shirts are the way to go!!
Genius but I’d pick something non-melty lol
we use the system for skiing and kid camp in the mountains so the heat is generally less of an issue!
I just immediately imagined my dumb ass eating sunscreen flavored chocolate
I mean, there are no instructions to the child re: how clean the hands need to be after applying the suncreen but before eating the chocolate!
We have been using Blue Lizard to date, which is an Aussie brand that s extremely good for sensitive skin and allergies. Just chalky/hard to rub in for a 5 year old.
I think almost any usa sunscreen would be easier than that one! Given the regs, translation issues, etc, I am very hesitant to recommend a japanese or korean sunscreen for all day protection for a kiddo.
These are the face sunscreens I recommend for daily use! And also the aveeno face stick and the Neutrogena body stick. They all help with acne and bumps and scrapes
I have bravely ordered a new sunscreen to try.
So proud of all of you who can digest all the info required to try sunscreen or other face stuff that is not in English/French/Spanish/ something you are fluent in
This is what I use for breakouts
+1 on the Beauty of Joseon sunscreen, I like the stick version too for reapplying.
My moisturizer is the Cosrx rice overnight mask. It’s just right for dry skin in a tropical climate so idk if it’d work for others.
Ooohh and I have a lifechanging 4 me Pyungkang Yul essence toner, much more effective than the Cosrx snail essence
Is the CosRX rice mask sticky? I have the Abib one that is a jelly and it stays sticky for quite a while. I need to start doing my skincare a couple of hours before bed but I’m not good at that. Also, maybe I’m using too much?
Not too sticky for me but I definitely sit around waiting for it to absorb before I put my glasses back on
