When I learned about the expiry dates for makeup, it led me to look for smaller sizes of products since I use it pretty infrequently. A lot of brands do mini or travel versions of items which is fun!
I mainly do travel sizes now! I almost never finish makeup
Here’s mine! I’ve stopped wearing makeup most days. First pic is what I’d use for a normal night out in my new Colorado life. Top to bottom of the tubes: two mascara options, lags primer, and eyebrow pencil.
This pic is what I could easily find that’s left over from when I’d do a full face of makeup pre-COVID. I know we’ve moved on from contour but I’m not ready to part with it.
Which CT palette is that? I’m in the market for a new one.
I’m super gross and have been using old lipstick
Can someone remind me of good brands
I just remembered a funny skincare story!
My dad’s last girlfriend was a very wealthy woman who lived in China. She was the vice president of a bank. I joked with my dad that she should worry that he was a gold digger and he got all offended
Anyway, when my sister and I were cleaning out my dad’s place for sale, I found a little jar of La Mer that his girlfriend had left there. I’ve heard that it’s like $200 a jar, so I was super excited. I opened it up and put some on my face. It was tan colored and not very smooth. I thought it was pretty weird and not at all luxurious.
Hours later I realized that she had just reused a La Mer jar for concealer, and that’s what I had put on my face
But not as gross as meeeeee!!
I win the prize!!
In the past I wasn’t able to shop with cruelty free in mind, and I got full sizes even though I never used them all up before they got dry or super old. I think I’m gonna try this out next. Minis and cruelty free!
I started looking for it yesterday and got distracted! Here it is: https://www.charlottetilbury.com/us/product/instant-eyeshadow-palette-starry-eyes-hypnotise
I like it a lot: creamy, colors blend well, glitter doesn’t get everywhere. This palette has the colors I use all of the time, so if I were getting another one, I’d get this one: https://www.sephora.com/product/charlotte-tilbury-darling-eyeshadow-palette-P454046?skuId=2307825&icid2=skugrid:p454046:product
I was browsing and found that Darling one yesterday…should be good for neutral looks which is about all I am capable of!
More lotion questions.
I’ve been using Jergens as a body lotion, which generally has been fine. I like the weight, it sinks in pretty well, it generally seems to work to give my skin that extra little bit of moisture and suppleness. It has a scent but it’s one I don’t mind.
However, it doesn’t work well on my back, where it causes acne. I don’t want to use my facial lotion on my back because, well, that’s a big area to put expensive lotion on. However, my back clearly needs a sensitive skin lotion as much as my face does.
Recs for non-comedogenic body lotions that don’t break the bank?
We should move to the skincare thread!
I’ve used Eucerin on the recommendation of a doctor when I had an issue with folliculitus. It was pretty good, from what I recall. Maybe kind of greasy, though?
Oh, shoot, there’s a skincare thread?
It’s in the Big Money Playpen area same as this
Ahhh I thought I was on that thread! Whoops!!!
@anomalily could you move my question mini-thread by any chance?
Cetaphil cream (regularly on sale at Costco).
I find the (maybe regular version?) Cetaphil face wash to be strongly perfumed (ymmv, and I don’t know if the lotion is the same), but CeraVe seems to be comparable and I find it to be less/unscented. I’m not sure how it compares on cost!
The other place I look for generally-well-tollerated products is r/skincareaddiction but I haven’t read their guides recently!
I have a jar of thick cream, no real smell I detect), slightly greasy but it soaks in fast. I do like CeraVe also, but haven’t tried any moisturizers.
I also like Aveeno products, but haven’t tried a moisturizer.
