Where do you guys recommend buying this stuff if Amazon has a lot of fakes?

Also @Bracken_Joy, since you have dermotographia too, what do you use or have you not found anything?

Absolutely! They’re the smile lines ones, though, not the forehead ones, since that’s where I look worse.

I feel like it’s blasphemous on this thread, but I only use sunscreen if I’m on snow/water/mountains/out on a high UV index day. I don’t use it on my face daily. Our normal UV index here is like 2 :grimacing: so I just… haven’t. I’ve only used a few brands and they never play very nicely. I used the cerave face sunscreen for a bit but then developed a sensitivity after wearing it a ton on a vacation to Hawaii.

I definitely need to sort it out now that I have the toddler monster though and spring is coming. I think we have Badger for her? One of the baby safe ones.

Somewhere WAY upthread, someone recommended this one: https://www.amazon.com/Australian-Gold-Botanical-Sunscreen-Resistant/dp/B07YZQTKDJ?th=1

I’ve been using it for several weeks and I love it. I was previously using a chemical sunscreen from Neutrogena that was stinging and felt greasy. I don’t have any issues with the Australian Gold. I’m bad at knowing which ingredients are more likely to cause issues, but here’s the ingredient list for the linked product in case it’s helpful:

Titanium Dioxide 4%, Zinc Oxide 4%, Cyclopentasiloxane, Water/Aqua/Eau, Glycerin, Silica, Cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 Dimethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, PEG-10 Dimethicone, Hexyl Laurate, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Terminalia Ferdinandiana (Kakadu Plum) Fruit Extract, Eucalyptus Globulus (Eucalyptus) Leaf Extract, Porphyra Umbilicalis Extract, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Stearic Acid, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Panthenol, Squalane, Disodium EDTA, Triethoxycaprylylsilane, Alumina, Phenoxyethanol, Iron Oxides (CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499)

I actually am using this now! I have noticed my skin isn’t itchy but it is slightly bumpy. I was trying to figure it out … maybe its this! I wasn’t going to rebuy since its feels cakey anyway.

That’s a holy grail sunscreen for a lot of people but everyone’s face is so different.

Do you find these stay on OK? Any tricks?
They showed up last night - fast! I have zits today between my nose and lip but any time I move my mouth the stickers fall off. Maybe they are just not good for parts of the face that move.

It was hard to pick which zits to try a couple of the stickers on. Covered again today, including around lips because my lips were very chapped last night so I put on lip balm. SIGH. I fucking hate skin!

I don’t use them over lotion, and I make sure to use one that’s large enough to have a good lip around the zit. I usually have zits on my forehead, “sideburns” area, and chin line though. :woman_shrugging:

Smile line ones are fine. I’ve never tried them but do have lines there so would be willing to!

I have a small question. The cuticles on my toenails don’t seem to grow properly, and I was wondering if the answer was moisturizing or something else? They grow, seem to be fine, and then are all cracked and gone suddenly. I don’t know how to describe better without a photo.

At the moment I’m scrubbing the bases of my feet using a brush, could I be accidentally scrubbing off the cuticles when I do a once-over the tops of my toes? I only using olive oil as a moisturiser after a shower, and don’t always remember to put it on my toes and feet.

It was me! I love that sunscreen! I recommend it all the time. I’ve been using it pretty much every day for probably two years now. I’m glad it’s working for you.

@TrisPrior I owe you an answer and I have things to say but I’ve been so busy with school that I just haven’t had a chance, sorry. Work and family kept me busy already but then I decided to add grad school and now I just can’t keep up with anything! Just wanted you to know I didn’t forget about you at least.

Does it layer on ok for 2hr reapplication?

Huh. I don’t know; I haven’t tried. I’ll go try now and report back to you. I put it on today about three hours ago.

I thought about it, and it’s been more like 3 1/2 hours. But I don’t think there would be much difference between 3 1/2 and 2. It dries down pretty fast and matte and then just stays that way.

I put more on. It went on smoothly, no pilling or weird stuff. I will let you know how it feels after it dries down.

OK, my report is that nothing has really changed. It’s all dry and I think I look slightly more made up? I’m used to only wearing one layer and since it’s tinted, I no longer bother with foundation. So I think there is a slight difference but not enough that anyone but me would notice. I polled my family and the all gave my puzzled looks and said no, your face doesn’t look any different today. I also feel like I can feel it a little bit on my face, again because I’m used to one layer only. But only if I think about it, so maybe I’m just telling myself stories because I know I put on another layer.

I will say it’s a pretty matte formula and you might not like it if your skin is dry, especially if you add layers. But my skin is not oily either, and I don’t find it drying. Just not at all greasy, if that makes sense.

Anyway, I’d say yes, it layers on just fine. At least at two layers in.

Preliminary Frownies review:
One application to 11’s, one application to one side of very deep wrinkle alongside mouth.

The 11’s (actually 11, I applied to 1 of them so I’d have a control) does look slightly smaller.
Zero effect on the Grand Canyon next to my mouth. I’m having a problem where - OK, so, you’re supposed to smooth the wrinkle so it’s flat and then paste this thing on top of it? Except, when I smooth the wrinkle, there’s all this loose skin that then overhangs the Frownie when I stick it on. I actually have an extra wrinkle at the Frownie edge now because of this.

I think I bought the wrong ones, though, I got Lip Lines and I think I need Mouth Corners. Those look bigger and like a better shape for this part of my face. These are oval shaped and kind of thick.

Frownies day 2 - yep, I’m definitely not using these for the mouth Grand Canyons. Tried again, with a slightly different configuration. Now I have 3 wrinkles - the original and 1 on either side of one of the Frownies. Plus one of them fell off when I had to tell Girl Kitty to stop chewing my hair at 6 a.m. I have found these only stay on if there is zero mouth movement of any kind.

But my 11’s look good!

This is of limited value as I have bangs. Though I am growing them out and my forehead wrinkles are a big reason why I had bangs in the first place. So, not a total loss.

I’ve slashed my budget for pretty much everything so that I can afford therapy again, but hopefully at some time I can try the mouth corners kind, which I think are a better size and shape for what I need.

I was browsing the Marisa Peer hypnosis site and she has a hypnosis for younger looking skin video. The hippy side of me loves it, and I hope that like a lot of her stuff, it’s encouraging self love through affirmations and water and self care. Some of her stuff is a bit more cosmo in the late 90s though. (Which I’m still on board with the feminist agenda of cosmo, and the understanding that it, and Marisa peer are also products of particular time and place. I can’t be mad that they come from a time and place. It just might not be right for me and now and here)

I’ve been using serums lately, but maybe not correctly? I just kind of swipe them on and let them dry/soak in. This takes maybe a minute. Am I supposed to actually rub them in like I do with moisturizer?
