This is my very first post after lurking for quite a long time. (Hi all!) This is my sweet, spoiled girl.

And in honor of Halloween, this is her pretending she is a vampire. LOL

Adorable!

image image So, Mr. Obnoxious is diabetic and on insulin, and we recently discovered he’s figured out how to sneak into the dog’s food. This, of course, spiked his blood sugar. Its been more or less uncontrolled for at least a couple of months since it took us a while to figure out about the dog food - he’s a devious little guy. However, desperate times call for desperate measures. Over the work of the last two weekends, he now has a fenced area in our courtyard and access the cat door into the house, but only this little catio inside. It’s multi level with several beds and toys, but he is not particularly pleased. It was a tv stand we Found yesterday morning at the thrift store. He comes out for meals, supervised Play, and occasional cuddles.

It’s sort of sad, but his glucose levels are slowly dropping again And we may eventually be able to reduce his insulin dose to his pre–dog-food level. I wasn’t about to secure the dog food at all times because the dog is a 12 year old Great Dane who has had free access to dry food for his entire life, and I’m not changing that now in his twilight years. Even if we had done, Mr. Obnoxious probably would’ve found the other cats food before long, and she won’t eat anything but purina cat chow, which is super high carb and terrible for diabetics.

Aw, poor Mr. Obnoxious! That’s quite a change from free run of the house. If only it were easier to explain to kitties why they shouldn’t be eating the dog’s food. :frowning:

He is a cutie.

Yeah, he is. I feel terribly sorry for him, and I feel guilty and not guilty all at the same time. His area in the courtyard his good sized, at least. He’s probably going to gradually accumulate some play structures in there.

Meanwhile, I’d just about forgotten what a pleasure it was to go to the bathroom at night without having to turn on all the lights to avoid puddles of cat pee or not to have to steam mop four times a day.

OPP: I had a visitor this weekend. His name is happy. He is not happy to have his photo taken.

CUTE. Is he a Corgi Chihuahua?

He’s a chi-something, for sure. His human thinks maybe chow? But really no idea.

Update: just after midnight last night, Mr. Obnoxious learned to jump over his fence in the courtyard and come around through the dog door to stomp on the people faces in the bed. Presumably, there was a pitstop on the way to eat dog food.

So, before 6 AM this morning, another layer of security was added to the top of his fence. Attractive it is not (think chicken wire stapled to the top rail of his fence so that it leans inward) but perhaps it will be effective. Research continues.

It never gets old taking pictures of krmithound snuggled up in bed.

This morning the silly boy was all tucked in and decided he wanted to move to the couch. He got up and the big denim blanket was still draped over him. He got two steps into the hall, decided the situation was untenable, and stood there and whined until I rescued him from the blankets. :joy:

Irresistible! Though she probably wouldn’t like me to disturb her nap.

How does Glorious Floof feel about me smushing my face in her fur? I mean, I’m guessing it’s a no, but thought I’d check…
