I sometimes make myself canape dinner with crackers n dips n veggies/meats
I sometimes put them in a wrap with some sort of protein and veggie
Yeah that was my variety of foods thought! Girl dinnnerrrrrr
It’s amazing how girl dinner becomes Girl Dinner
when you put it all in little attractive bites instead of sitting on the couch shoving crackers into dip. As long as I’ve Architected it, it’s fancy.
sour cream & spinach or caramelized onion is great with potatoes. you could do loaded baked potatoes, or a potato salad. Sour cream & spinach would probably be good in a burrito or dolloped on top of a soup.
I also like making corn fritters and zucchini fritters, and those dips sound like they could be good on that. Or they could probably be added into the batter itself (my fritters use yogurt as part of the wet, which could be replaced by the sour cream).
I used to make little savoury bread puddings in muffin tins, and those dips could go into the egg component too.
The first three dips all sound like good things for steak. I ‘cheat’ by cooking a single steak and the slicing it really thinly and serving it with strongly flavoured sauces.
I bet they’d be good baked into scones.
Other item to dip- pizza. Pizza loves dip
Does anyone have a go-to recipe for egg bites? I’d like to start making them for some good protein and veggie breakfasts in the new year.
Once upon a time, I made crustless quiches/frittatas a lot, but I stopped because I hate rubbery egg - so bonus if your recipe has great texture. Edited to note that I don’t have a Sous Vide machine.
IIRC @Ivy does!
I need to follow this thread.
I just use my baby dutch pancake recipe in my muffin trays and add fruit. I think the flour prevents the rubberiness. You could swap the sugar for cheese and add veg?
I’ve made this one a lot of times, but it’s not just egg, it’s got potato. They are good! Starbucks Potato Cheddar and Chive Bakes - UncomplicatedChef
p.s.- I save myself a lot of time by not doing the first step of sauteeing the onions and potato in a pan on the stovetop. And by not chopping and peeling onions and potatoes. Instead, I used frozen diced potatoes and frozen diced onions and cook them in the oven for like 15 minutes while I’m getting the rest of the ingredients together. Then mix it all up together and put them into muffin pans, and no, I don’t have square ones. I’m not Starbucks, it’s OK. ![]()
Love that time and energy saving hack! Thanks ![]()
How do you reheat them? That’s my sticking point!
No recipe, but steaming them in a silicone mold in the instapot gives better texture.
Also no reheating advice because my kids and husband are gaston.
My kids would usually use the microwave because of rushing but they come out better if you use the toaster oven. Apologies if you do not have a toaster oven. (They are the best and everyone should have one, there’s no room in modern life for a toaster that can only toast bread/bagels. Toasters are dumb, get a toaster oven! Especially since they can also be used as air fryers.)
I gastoned too close to the sun for too many years and now I’m a princess about it. The horrors
I don’t have a toaster oven but I have an air fryer that I refuse to learn how to use! So maybe that’s my solution
We have both, and both get used daily. Well, the toaster oven is a combination toaster oven / air fryer / microwave. It gets used a lot. Could probably get rid of the big oven.
