I do it and get a 20% discount based upon my driving. Mine is through my phone, but it does assume I’m driving at all times. I’m rarely a passenger but if I am I need to manually tell it that I am not the driver. It would be a hassle if I was a passenger very often.
I’d do it for 600 but not 200. My privacy apparently has a price. 450?
Has anyone used a buckwheat pillow? Interested in the reduction of dust mites for allergy reasons.
I had a buckwheat nursing pillow that I loved. The texture, faint scent, and ASMR sounds were very nice. Unlike foam/feathers, once you get it set into a shape it doesn’t bounce or expand back. I found the whole experience very soothing.
I hate buckwheat so no help there, but I have been happy with getting zip-up allergy friendly pillowcases and washing them regularly!
I have those too! V good investment.
I would probably not do it.
I use the phone app safe driving app through my insurance company. I was quite hesitant to do so but I just had my first renewal since using it and my rates went down significantly.
I don’t know what the numbers are off the top of my head.
Have not used a pillow but have microwavable buckwheat heating pads that I really like. But you could just get dust mite pillow covers and wash them on hot, regularly.
How much do your house and car insurance go up every year? Mine is about 10%. In 2021 I paid $1728, and I just paid $2819 for the same coverage with the same company. Oof.
A few years ago my region had a few years with a series of really bad storms and both car and homeowners insurance shot up like crazy. I also had a sort of stupid/bad insurance agent who sucked at his job. I ended up shopping around myself and got the usual progressive/geico/whoever quotes and was able to drop it back down pretty significantly, but I had to do all the legwork myself. Its still more expensive than it was pre-pandemic/pre-inflation/pre-storms, but it’s not thousands more.
Linen storage is a major pain point for me. My one linen closet is about 12 inches deep and 20 inches wide. I can barely fit a single normal sized towel in it because of the depth and height of the shelves. So I have stacks of sheets and giant dog blankets in random corners of rooms and other closets. I’d really like to repurpose the “linen” closet into something else and find better storage for the linens. Does anyone have a standalone system or some way they organize without having a built in closet?
As I started responding I realized that the answer for us has been to separate all linens and towels into the rooms that they are used in.
I’ve started using sheet storage boxes which have a zipper + Velcro and hard sided. One set of sheets (+ pillow cases optional) so it depends on how many you have. We have about 3 pairs per bed so one one the bed and two boxes in a shelf in the closet for each bedroom.
For duvet covers and other things I’ve been using some of the soft sided closet ikea storage things, but those don’t really stack well so probably not the best solution for what you need.
Another thing is that we keep towels under each sink that they’re used for. So kitchen towels under the kitchen sink, our towels folded nicely under our sink. That space is large and usually just cluttered if I use it for anything else so it works great for us. Cleaning supplies all go in the garage together rather than under sinks.
For kid blankets (which take up a huge amount of space in my home and probably similar to dog blankets) we have a storage bench downstairs and a big soft sided basket in my kids room.
I have no linen storage for my bedroom/ bathroom so my extra sheets go between the mattress and box spring, the towels are under the bathroom sink. The towel thing is annoying but having fresh sheets already where they need to be is nice.
I used to keep sheets in the bedroom closet, but now we have a bed with storage drawers and they go in there.
I do keep the towels in the hall closet but I roll them up and we don’t have all that many.
This is really smart. For kitchen linens I already do it, they are stored in the cabinet above the sink. Most of my other linens are for my bedroom or bathroom, which conveniently are in the same room. I guess I need to figure out a storage solution that will work in one side of my walk in closet.
I love the storage bench idea! I hate the dog blankets so much and they are so bulky, but I think I can figure out a place for a bench in my living room
I used to be a towel minimalist and now I have a 100 pound slobbery, mud puddle loving dog so the towels have multiplied lol
I have ratty towels for Gross Stuff and they live in the laundry room.
Yeah, my ratty towels live in my utility closet. I use them for cleaning and instead of mop heads.
Does anyone here have a migraine resource or book? I’ve always had them a little bit (1-2/year), but they are ramping up here and I don’t know what to do. ![]()
