Question for anyone who has dealt with toenail fungus. I’m taking the prescription antifungal medication right now and I’ve seen conflicting guidance online about making sure it doesn’t come back. I’ve seen some people say that you need to throw away all of your shoes and get new ones once it’s gone and I’ve seen others say you should spray some kind of sanitizer spray in them and I’ve seen others say you didn’t need to do anything. Ditto for things like nail clippers, nail polish, etc.
Does anyone have experience to go off of? Did you keep your shoes and do just fine? Keep shoes that you always wear with socks but maybe replace shoes like flats that you wear without socks? Help!
I didn’t replace anything/wasn’t instructed to do so. I haven’t had another incident of toenail fungus (it’s been at least 10 years). Two changes I did make: I haven’t painted my toes since and I don’t sleep in socks anymore. I don’t know if those were necessary changes, but I don’t mind either.
I do think my fungus was related to my previous toenail painting, because I never took off the old polish and just applied new on top. Do not recommend.
This is good to know! What I read is that the fungus spores can hide in your shoes for 20 months. I think I got mine from a pedicure a few years ago. I haven’t had another one since but the fungus has just gotten worse and worse. I do occasionally paint my own nails.
I do have to sleep in socks but I always use clean ones.
My mom lives in an apartment building for seniors. There is a man there whose wife recently passed and he has become close with another woman since then. He is 93 and she is around 90. Some old biddy complained to the management that they were spending time together in the womans apartment with the door closed (!). The manager has told them that they are not allowed to do that! Is this even legal? They each pay $2100 for their apartments, neither is in the assisted living side. I cannot even imagine someone being upset about this, but they are so now the couple has to sit in the public areas because they are afraid of being evicted. Nuts.
They aren’t able to tell you who can visit, are they?
This sounds really shady. Maybe contact the local housing governance for what’s legal. Sounds like a regular apartment to me, but also check the lease.
I would be trying to figure out extreme petty revenge on the old nosey buddy. Can’t let other people be happy.
Or just generally jealous for not getting attention. Actually, just letting the other residents know she did this should peer pressure the shit out of her.
My mom doesn’t know who it is at this point. She feels bad that a sweet man has to go through this bull after losing his wife who had dementia for years and he took care of. Also my mom used to really like the manager but this has really changed that. It’s just too bad.
I’m sorry, what? I cannot imagine in any way shape or form that this is legal. They would have had to sign some seriously fucking weird contracts for that to be a thing at all, and it’s hard to imagine that contract holding up in court.
I would strongly suggest reaching out to a tenants union.
I’ve never seen my mom’s lease to know what it contains. I should ask to see it. The couple is too afraid of eviction to do anything even though it’s ridiculous. I could understand if the lady was in the assisted living area and he might be taking advantage of her but that’s not the case.
There might be “morality” clauses. Or maybe concerns for residents who don’t have quite the ability to consent to private activities. I would go through the leasing agreement first, but then check in with management for clarification about the policy.
Also don’t be thinking just because someone is older doesn’t mean they can’t get up to all sorts of things!
The dermatologist told my husband to spray the floor of the shower with bleach water afterwards. To not reinfect himself. He’s had it the whole 30 years we’ve been married and I’ve never gotten it.
Is it worth it to enroll in my auto insurance “safe driving” program where they track your driving in an app?
Our insurance is about $1100/6 months so this could save us $220-660/year. The $660 is based on them saying you can save “up to 30% for good driving” so I am not sure it is realistic.
I don’t use my phone often while driving but I am a passenger most of the time.
The tracking seems a bit invasive and I would be concerned how the data could be used against us in the future but I am not sure if that is a legitimate concern, or worth the savings.
I just signed up for it on my car insurance too. I’m doing the plug in device and not the app though. At this point I figure all my info is out there anyway for companies to grab so I might as well save some money from it.
