are you sure your app used the downloaded versions and didn’t decide to stream anyways? I have certain apps that I’ve set to only access online if they are on wifi. Spotify (when I was still using them) was very bad about using the downloaded versions of podcasts.
Interesting! I’ll check, thanks.
I have not run through all of my data
only because I aggressively turn off cellular data to most apps and ask other people to use their phone map instead of me having to use mine. I try really hard not to use data yet it still goes so fast! It really irritates me that I feel like I can hardly use the phone and that I have to keep track of my data usage all the time. My phone shows a lot of data use on Safari and that data point is worthless because I don’t know what I am using in Safari that is sucking all the data. That and Google Maps (when I do turn it on) burns through tons of data doing the tiniest little trip. Turning on Google Maps makes me so anxious about the data. It’s so stupid that I feel like I can’t use my phone for navigation. Prior to Mint I had a 1 GB plan with some other carrier and I never ran out of data once. I was careful then too, but I wasn’t this careful! Something is definitely different with carrier or apps or the phone or something.
Thinking more I don’t think this is it: it only happens when I travel and I stream a lot of music I don’t have downloaded when I’m at home. If it was a WiFi settings thing I’d run out every month
Thank you for the validation and I’m sorry you’re in the same boat!
My kid wants grooming scissors, the kind with curved blades. Not from Amazon. The beauty supply store doesn’t have them. The drug store doesn’t have them. Where else should I look?
These words are findinf me dog scissors. In which case, pet store. Do you have an oldtimey shaving supply store with pro raso and a million kinds of safety razors? They usually have the same aesthetic as a cobbler
I’m wondering if he would notice if I got him dog scissors
Like nail scissors? The little ones? If those, then any place with nail polish/makeup should have them in the nail care section.
Otherwise I have no idea what he’s talking about.
I’m on Mint on a newer pixel phone and my phone can show me wifi vs cellphone/mobile data usage. My data usage also spikes when traveling, but not to the extent that I’ll run out of data. There is probably a background process that’s downloading stuff preemptively that usually runs on wifi. I believe music and video apps are the typical culprits but it’s hard to track down. I presume ios also has this capability but idk where to look for it
This makes a lot of sense! This does seem like the most likely culprit to me. Will play with it this weekend.
I drive through a tiny town often where there is a flower stand in someone’s driveway. I’ve bought flowers there and they are actually the reason I started growing dahlias. I think I’m going to have a lot of extra tubers to share when I unwrap them and not many people to give them to. Would you be freaked out if someone stopped by your house out of the blue, knocked on your door and offered you free dahlias? I’d rather not deal with Facebook marketplace unless I have to.
Not at all! It’s great community!
If your house gets passersby you can also put a cardboard sign up and a basket of them!
We have a Facebook page for our street and a few times people have posted that they are coming around with cookies, which is nice
I’ve put extra cucumbers and tomatoes out at the end of my driveway with a sign and people walking by have been happy to take them! Plus if I’m out in the yard then it’s a low-pressure interaction as they say “Oooh, cucumbers!” and I say “Take them, please!”
We have a neighborhood facebook page and people will post when they are splitting hostas or similar and leave them at the end of their driveways and they always get taken.
Is a bunch of celery less one stalk a dumb thing to put on Buy Nothing? I know we won’t use it
I had someone pick up a pizza with 2 slices eaten.
I would take that! Lol
I once picked up 5 large onions someone thought they wouldn’t use, which was mysterious to me, but they didn’t last long around here. Lol
I love rehoming stuff on BN. No harm in posting!
I have a question for the ADHD-ers among us. Going through the process of getting a diagnosis for a child has me facing some parallels with how my own brain works. The thing is that I’m a stay-at-home mom. Is it worth it to try to pursue a diagnosis and medication for myself given the lower stakes of the consequences of my inattention (mostly inability to complete housework, dropping the ball on remembering everyone’s events, etc)? I guess I’m wondering if anyone else here is in a similar position and how you decided to do or do not?
