I think the coordinating with other coworkers idea is best, but if not, then I would give $100 for the engagement party gift. If you are not invited to the actual wedding, you do not need to give a gift. If you are, you should give a gift even if you are not attending.

I am always hearing Ask A Manager saying “gifts should flow down at work, not up,” but in this case you were explicitly invited to her thing, so I wouldn’t be worried about the politics of getting a gift.
I think your idea of a pooled $250 dinner sounds great! So nice to have a gift card that covers it all.

My house didn’t come with spare paint - I want to do touch ups. How do I do this?

Take an exacto knife to an inconspicuous piece of wall, and cut out a square. Maybe an inch by an inch?
And take that to a good paint store (I like Sherwin Williams) and get them to match it.

Thank you! We just have very basic grey walls and white trim but if it’s wildly wrong it will do the opposite of fixing it.
Now I need to do the same for the condo walls except they should be able to tell us the colour and finish.

I picked up this scarf from a neighbor. I want to cut it in half and sew it back into a square for a little kid lap blanket. What kind of sewing is needed to fix the edges so they don’t unravel?

I use a buttonhole stitch - I am sure there’s a video that shows it, it’s a very easy stitch. Or you could use a french seam - like used on jeans - the raw edges are trapped in the middle so then there’s no exposed edges or “wrong” side of the item.

I know a lot of us have Mint Mobile, US-based users have you had issues with running through data when you travel? I’ve checked all of the settings and have been good about always using WiFi, and I can’t figure it out. They’re not able to tell me how exactly I’m using all of my data.
(Edit: I don’t think it’s me, I think it’s a weird Mint thing)

I’m sorry, I haven’t had that issue either! If anything I feel like I’m burning data slower than I should be when I travel.
Do you think it could be maybe a weird quirk related to your specific phone? (I have a Google Pixel, if that matters)

Are you using Google maps a lot? I know I have my local area downloaded as an offline map and that helps with data usage. It could either be that you are using more data because you don’t have that base offline map or that they are trying to download an offline map as soon as you get to a new area and that eats up your data.

Your phone can tell you how much data you’ve used on each app over the last while. If you reset it next time you travel you’ll have an idea of what is happening.
I also started using huge amounts of data a while ago and I have a suspicion that reading the forum on my commute is to blame, but I couldn’t ever get the app working so it all just falls under “internet browser” and I can’t prove it.

@darlingpants very smart, I will reset before my next trip. Right now it tells me the apps that I use all the time are the ones that use the most data, so it makes sense but is not really info I can use.

My only thought is if you think you are connected to wifi at the hotel or airport but you actually aren’t 
You can always just turn the data off on your phone and see if it keeps working. My phone automatically uses data if the wifi is being a jerk and not loading or whatever.

I think that could be what happened the first trip, but on this one I took a few Lyfts but otherwise just listened to downloaded music/watched downloaded shows. So weird right?!
