Thanks. I don’t drink tea or coffee so that wouldn’t skew anything. My incorrect assumption was that time doesn’t matter as long as it’s before food.

ETA I’ve been checking first thing and also before first meal to see if there’s any difference. I have both numbers.

This is part of what highlights why it’s so important to also have a value like A1c, which functions as a rolling average over the course of several months.

I do that also.

Honestly the pawn shop has been how I bought gold earrings the last two times.

What are you looking for? I really like the small 22K gold hoops that I got from an online Indian store. They’re annoying to latch but once they’re on I’m just leaving them on. They were about $200.

Looking for a necklace with a small stone, probably an opal? Gold chain/setting (real gold, not vermeil). But also in general, I don’t have much jewelry beyond my everyday earrings and my wedding ring. I’d like to get a few quality pieces I can rotate. Heirloom type stuff!

Dang I hadn’t even thought of the pawn shop tbh. Too afraid of things being…haunted? Why am I like this haha

Yes! I got my wedding/engagement rings at a local place, but the selection is slim. Maybe I just find another 1-3 places to check out!

Adding another 'random local place"…I actually found it because I wanted to get a couple stones from my mother’s ring set into one I can wear since I tend to destroy plating (I’m pretty sure my skin ate through a chunk of the original band) so I searched/visited several places that did jewelry repair and the one I liked had random other rings available too. I think they got a lot from estate sales, so maybe something to look at there too?

Hehehe in middle class neighborhoods it’s mostly old family stuff people inherited and didn’t want. Lots of “this didn’t sell at the estate sale” dumps where people want a check, not their aunt’s earrings.
Totally hit and miss. But you can get stuff for almost the metal cost frequently! The basic gold loops I wear daily I got at a pawn shop for basically the price of the gold.

My ears decided they were sensitive to other metals. So I wanted to get a fix for a reasonable price.

Costco? Or a pawn shop? I like vintage jewelry myself. (Personally, my jewelry is all either family stuff or thrifted or made by someone I know…)

I come from a long line of women who barely bothered with wedding rings lol

My mom is the only child of an only child and we ended up with a pile of wedding rings, non of which my sister or I wanted. Lol My mom had some of it remade for us, so I have a pair of flashy diamond solitaires that I never wear.

But honestly I’ve picked up some random nice things that I do wear at yard sales.

I’m not a jewellery person, however I did want to buy one good piece when my mother gifted me some money. I found I much preferred antique/vintage pieces for their style but also for the colour of the gold.

(I’ve just had a slight panic because I wasn’t sure where I had put the piece I ended up with but I’ve found it so here’s a photo!)

I’m not a big jewelry person, but where I come from, David Yurman and James Avery were very popular places to get quality jewelry that would last and be passed on. I have no idea in terms of price range though! ( ok just looking and realizing maybe David Yurman is along the lines of Tiffanys price-wise. My family certainly wasn’t buying it but I saw it around a lot in New Orleans)

Neither was familiar to me so I will check them out!!

I went James Avery for our wedding rings, think I found the same ones elsewhere but JA was cheapest!

If you want to look at the Indian store I got the earrings from, it’s caratlane.us. Definitely a legit store!

All of my “valuable” jewelry is from Costco because that is where my mom and all her friends buy their jewelry :joy:. Preferably on road trips to Oregon so as to avoid sales tax.

I’ve bought replacement wedding bands off of Etsy but they’ve been simple bands gold or white gold bands - no jewels so I’m not that concerned about whether or not the stone is real.

How long does heavy cream keep once it’s opened? I’m not sure if it’s the same as milk or longer? The use by date is quite a ways out but it’s been open for 4? weeks.

I don’t know the answer for sure but I feel like it does keep longer than milk.
