Heard good things about The Kite Runner but have not read it so can’t personally vouch. The film adaptation was well regarded but also haven’t seen it.

Do the Southern Hemisphere folks celebrate Easter with all the spring folk traditions that we do here, considering it’s Autumn?

I remember @nnls said something about chocolate wallabies instead of chocolate bunnies

@bucketsofrain I haven’t read it in years, but FYI definitely CW for sexual assault in Kite Runner

Pretty much. Eggs, chicks, bunnies. Some do bilbies or wallabies instead of bunnies, but probably only 10%?

Persepolis, an absolutely fabulous graphic novel (set, really, as there are four) set during the Iranian Revolution.
Edit: also some in Vienna, as it’s autobiographical a and the author’s family emigrated.

But isn’t baby animal season the spring? Or are your domesticated animals still on a northern hemisphere birthing schedule?

Nope, still mostly spring. Easter makes no sense. Christmas makes even less sense in forty degree heat.

Kite Runner is very good!

CW: there is a scene involving sexual assault.

Yes, very good book, but it takes place in Afghanistan.

There are 4? This coronavirus just got more expensive since I’m 3 books behind

Derp. Very different country despite the proximity!

Maybe? You could also have an omnibus edition or something.

Anyone have frizzy/curly/wavy hair and gone short (from very long)? How did maintenance and hassle compare? How short do you have to go to keep it out of your eyes?

Also, is anyone good at looking at face shape and telling how that person would look with different hair styles?

My hair is curly and frizzy. We have similar hair. Mine is usually short. I keep it jyst long enough to tuck behind my ears in front, usually shorter in the back. Sometimes an undercut. I don’t know if it looks good - who would I ask for an honest opinion? But it’s very easy to manage and it leaves me the hell alone.

Those are definitely my goals. And dries quickly, which would come with the territory I imagine.

Mine still takes forever to dry but it’s stupid thicc.

Please bear in mind that i haven’t washed it in days and my comb was lost in the move.

Now I see that i need to cut the part behind my ears.

Yes, this is me to a T :joy:

I started by maintaining long hair with the sides shaved. Hair was so thick no one could tell it was shaved with my hair down. Frizz has almost disappeared over the last three years because I’ve mostly gone sulfate and silicone free with my hair products, use a butt-ton of conditioner and only wash it twice a week or so.

I only keep hair on top of my head anymore, letting my lopsided bangs grow long. I shave down everything else every two-ish weeks or so. I maybe trim the rest once a month, more like every other month.

It took about a week to figure out new styling product ratios.

This definitely depends on the style! I just keep sweeping my bangs off to the side, so they’re not really in my eyes. Also adding more gel for volume keeps them lifted on the rare occasion I center them.

Definitely not me, I’ll bow out now!
