Shoe shopping is the worst. I like the etsy option. Or when you visit me we can drive an hour to the fancy moccasin place and get custom moccasins for us and our kids.

Weird light up shoe request for the world…can we have solid lights. No flashy please

Ooh, I am interested @Gdogg!
I have lemons and very ripe bananas and I was wondering what to do with them…

It gets harder to get the shoes on.

Banana-Lemon Tea Bread
Recipe from Bon Appetit ~1990
Preheat oven to 325F
Grease 9 X 5 X 3” Loaf pan – can also add parchment paper for easier removal

Measurement Ingredient Notes
2/3 cup Shortening I use butter
1 cup Sugar
1 ½ cup Bananas, ripe & mashed ~ 3 bananas
6 Tablespoons Fresh lemon juice
2 Eggs
2 cup White flour
1 teaspoon Baking soda
1 teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Fresh lemon peel I often use more, I like the lemon flavor
  • In a large mixing bowl cream shortening & sugar

  • beat in eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition

  • blend in mashed bananas & lemon juice

  • sift together flour, baking soda, & salt

  • blend dry ingredients into banana mixture

  • stir in lemon peel

NOTE: the acid from the lemon juice reacts with the base of the baking soda to create noticable aeration – so I try to get this into the oven as soon as the dry ingredients mixed in so as not to lose this leavening action.

  • pour batter into the greased loaf pan

  • bake at 325F for one hour, or until toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean

  • let cool a little, then remove from pan and finish cooling*

  • sift confectioners sugar over tope of bread before serving*

*NOTE: ALTERNATE TOPPING

I like to make a glaze of lemon juice, lemon peel, and confectioners sugar, which I drizzle over the top of the bread while it is still warm.

When my kids complain, lol.

When I was still putting their shoes on for them I’d just periodically check the toe box for room.

Thanks a lot!
It is in the oven right now, I can’t wait to taste it!
I hope I didn’t mess up with the conversions.

My big footed brother. I rock New Balance 4E width. I attribute my fat feet to an unshod childhood. I didn’t wear shoes for a full day until high school. Sure I wore shoes to school but then they’d come off almost immediately and stay off.
I’m unsure if that is a weird small country school thing.

It is really good, thanks @Gdogg :+1:

Glad it turned out and you like it! I think it is a recipe that folks that don’t like Standard banana might like - the lemon makes a big difference.

The 4E are absolute live savers. And yeah, I grew up in a tiny town and hardly ever wore shoes unless I was doing yard work.

It’s funny trying to buy dress shoes. There seems to be one pattern they all follow and it feels more narrow every time I shop (about every 8 years). I say it’s time for dress sandals to be accepted.

I need clown shoes. But just a size 13 (US). That shape would be perfect. Maybe I’ll get to be an elephant in my next life.

My impression was that you are one already: big, wide feet, strong, cool as fuck.

My tusks could use some enhancement, but pretty close other than that

See, I grew up barefoot (farm; more than one parent teacher meeting where suspension was threatened unless I would keep my shoes ON at school), but I had narrow feet and just very very high arches until pregnancy. Although I suppose I’ve always had a fairly wide toe box, and ballet And gymnastics are certainly wildcard Variables there.

Now my feet are very very wide at the toe, thank you pregnancy, and I’m struggling to find women’s shoes that accommodate. Sigh. (I did find one excellent pair. All hail Keens)

How do I become a cleaner person? I can handle things like washing dishes every day, laundry, etc., but vacuuming and mopping and bigger projects like that overwhelm me.

Do you keep a planner or to-do list?

This is really random but does anyone use any kind of a free program that allows you to schedule/send text messages? My new invoicing software allows me to generate a link to my invoices and my pain in the ass client pays faster when I pester him via text to pay the damn invoice. Rather than having to remember to text him I’d love to set a reminder the same way I set the email reminders in the invoicing software.

I put things on a schedule and put it all in Habitica. It’s the only thing that really motivates me, other than someone visiting (which results in mad cleaning, which is great because now my house is clean, but awful because it involves an entire day of panic cleaning).
