Mine is still cheap because I’m in a small town. I knew it would be compared to a lot of you! But… she just raised it from $30 to $40 which seems like a big percentage jump. Although groceries are up that much so I guess it makes sense.
All of these haircut cost amounts are scaring me away from ever getting my hair done again.
I need someone to water my garden for a week while I’m out of town. For our June vacation, once might be enough depending on how often it rains.
No access to our house is required. I don’t know a neighbor or coworker to do it. What strategies would y’all recommend? An actual professional seems like far more than my crazy ass garden is worth- would you find a kid on NextDoor? If so, what would I pay them? Are there options in between that I’m missing?
About $65 with tip. I go on average about once a year.
Do you know anyone with a teenager or a college kid? I’d start there
When I go (last time was 18mo ago) I aim for 65-100*tax type places. First choice I think is around 45, and is unlikely to do better than I do at home.
Tagging along - what do the curly but cheap ladies and gents and co here use on their hair? I appear to be migrating back from staright wavy to wavy curly and dry. Last time my hair was like this I used v expensive products, and I think I ought not right now.
Not many and not nearby, unfortunately. One of my coworkers used to help her kid come to the house and take care of Claude and she (my coworker) would water, but the kid got a real job.
Would one of bigger kid’s friends be interested? At that age bigger niece got a job for 2 weeks of walking a kid home from summer camp ($5 per direction and at the end some flowers for her mom because we know who make it happen).
Otherwise I’d ask on nextdoor or a petsitter. You can’t really go through rover because the rates would be insane
Thank you for the price data! We live on the wrong side of a major road from his school so I’ve never met any of them! NextDoor might be the best bet. They have 1 friend who is only in fifth grade but lives right around the corner and I have met their parents in passing- I might ask BB if he thinks they might be interested.
Ugh, I’m on the increasingly curly hair journey and trying to figure this out too. Lmk if you find something you like.
Yum, panini (autocorrect strike again AND makes me hungry).
I really love As I Am products, specifically the coconut co-wash for weeks in between hair washing. All of the products in that line are very affordable. I also like Pacifica Pineapple curls for my regular every day conditioner. I do use an expensive shampoo (Ouidad cleansing oil) but it’s $70 for a bottle that lasts me 2 years since I don’t wash every week. I use their heat and humidity gel too and it is a more expensive product but also lasts forever. Miele organics is a more inexpensive brand that makes some really good products too, I love their leave in conditioner and it’s like $12 for a bottle that lasts at least 6 months
I don’t like my therapist
But
I have never liked my therapist (n = 3, 1 in person, 1 better help/texting, this one on zoom)
How do you tell if it’s time to move on
Or
How do you make a marginal therapist work for you?
If you have to ask….
I think mediocre therapy matches can be okay for one-off problems.
Same.
I’ve had really good therapists and meh therapists. I’ve learned things from all of them. I think with the meh ones, an important part was accepting their limitations and knowing I might have to find someone else later. For me it’s time to move on if I don’t have much to talk about for a few weeks in a row, or I’m bored, or I’m making excuses not to go instead of feeling relief when an appointment rolls around. Good luck!
My crappy but fine DIY approach is fine and that’s a lot of money.
Let’s spend money on animals instead, k bro?
For me it’s been when I begin, even if only once, dreading the appointments.
I’m lucky to have the chaotic curls that hide things fairly well.
Clippers and no second mirror, zero dollars zero fear BAYBEEEEE
