Anyone have strong feelings about fruit treat delivery services?

Some friends postponed their wedding because of a health emergency, so we wanted to send them a treat. They confirmed that a fruit treat would be wanted, this is consensual fruit (bc I know not everyone would be into it)

My mother-in-law has sent us Edible Arrangements before. They were delicious. That’s all I know about fruit treat delivery. But it’s a yes from the recipient’s end.

I received a basket from Edible Arrangements before and it was delicious! I was actually pleasantly surprised - expected it to be a mediocre gimmick but it was surprisingly good

Because I’m a giant nerd, it’s my dream to receive an edible arrangement.

I’ve sent Harry and David fancy pears to fancy lawyers too and they said thank you and that they enjoyed them which for them is a ringing endorsement.

Probably not what you’re looking for but my other dream delivery fruit gift is anything from Miamifruit.com. But maybe they are people who would appreciate a box of stupidly expensive rare fruits.

ETA. Link fixed. Was posting on my phone and didn’t realize I was making a link. Sorry to all who clicked lol

Oh! You reminded me of Harry and David. Big fan of them, too. We had a relative who sent a box of pears to the family every Christmas and we kept them on the porch (Arizona desert, nothing was freezing) and they were amazing. So much nostalgia for me in their pears. But I’ve ordered for others and for my own family lots of different treat boxes over the years. There have been no disappointments. So good!

I’ve gotten an Edible Arrangement before and it was so delicious! And such a nice surprise/treat. My parents have gotten Harry and David pears and they were sooooo good too. I think either would be a great choice! I’ve also always wanted to try Tropical Fruit Box, if you have friends that would like something a little different!

My middle dd works at EA. Their chocolate cupcakes are very good if you like that sort of thing.

Harry and David pears are legit but idk if that’s only a Christmas thing. You can also send ripe Hawaiian pineapples through Dole. Idk how the price compares on that stuff but it’s all yummy.

Any advice on extended warranties for kitchen appliances? On a new fridge, stove & dishwasher there’s an offer for 5 year parts & service, and if you have more than 3 service calls they’ll replace the whole thing. I’m inclined towards no because it is not cheap ($900 for the 3 appliances) and we’re mostly picking brands that have good reputations for reliability. Maybe @turtlegirl has opinions?

I’ve never done extended warranties and think they are almost always a waste of money. If something is going to go wrong with your appliance, it will most likely be shortly after you start using it. There’s something called the Weibull Distribution that is often used for determining such things as failures, and the intersting thing is that it’s quite front loaded.

Weibull Distribution (Definition, Properties, Plot, Reliability & Examples).

The companies offering extended warranties only do so because they have studied the odds of actually having to honor them, and they have decided that this is a money maker for them. Which means it’s a money taker for you.

Just my two cents.

I almost always say no to extended warranties. However, after paying a decent amount of money for a spin bike that broke down once right before warranty was up and then once again right after, I did just buy the extended warranty for the new spin bike. This was only $80 though, on a $1100 item, and it covers all service calls and replacement parts for 5 years with a $0 deductible. Given how hard we obviously are on the spin bike it was worth it to me.

We also paid for a full extended warranty on our adjustable bed and that has been a godsend as well. That one is for 10 years and we just had to use it for the first time after 2 years and I’m so happy we have it. Also a $0 deductible plan and it wasn’t super expensive on a % of cost basis.

Normally I think extended warranties are a scam too, but my engine block cracked at 106K miles and I still had 8 months or 19K miles left on the warranty which covered the $9300 for the new engine. I guess you just gotta weigh the cost v (potential) benefit and whether you can afford to repair the item or replace it yourself.

I don’t personally buy extended appliance warranties, I figure by the time you pay for it you can pay for a couple of repairs if needed. Most of my clients don’t buy their appliances from me because we sell the expensive stuff so I’m not sure what they do but I doubt they buy them.

Is there a website or app that lets you put in two songs and compare them? Like pandora would let you look at like, this song is loud/jazzy/breathy vocals/60s inspired whatever and have all these automated things that let the algorithm group them- is there a site that will do that for between two songs? “These are both X, Y, and Z”
