My sister said she has one and can get 3 free appointments. She’s going to check into it Monday.
I’m sure my sister would be willing to pay if needed after the free sessions end, it’s finding one that’s been hard.

It’s hard to find someone with openings
A couple of years ago I did find someone, but she wasn’t all that great which is why I think she was available…
A neighbor asked me to cat sit for 11 days. Also bring in mail and water plants. How much should I charge?
How many times a day are you going to be over there/how many cats? People are so different with cats. Some people have had me go every other day, and some 2x a day. I charge $20 for a drop in visit typically which is like 30 min of play with the cat, litter box cleaning, food + water, and then mail/plants. If its neighbors who are friends maybe you want to charge less…for friends I usually just ask $20 a day for cats if they live close by
1 cat and she’s just down the block from me.
I charge a friend $20/day for dropping in 2x/day but I might be undercharging.
If they are friend neighbors I’d probably charge $20 to check in once or twice a day. I also like any excuse to take a walk and pet a cat so I probably undercharge for friends who are conveniently located haha
My EAP just provided me an approval code to give to the therapist for billing and a list of therapists who were on their EAP list. It was still up to me to find one of those who had an opening, which seems tremendously dumb.
It’s so hard to find a therapist, let alone a good one! In my suburban area, my partner had to call ~5 practices before finding one, which isn’t too bad considering some of the other stories I’ve heard.
One idea - if you know anyone in the area who has a therapist that they like, ask them if their therapist has referrals for colleagues who are accepting new patients. Not always a slam dunk but it’s another way to get leads.
She’s only been there for 5 months. I think her boss gave her some ideas, but they just don’t call back when she leaves messages.
I have an intake appointment but I had to wait a couple months for it after contacting the practice. I think it probably depends on where you are, at least in part. I’ve definitely had an easier time finding a therapist who takes my insurance than other people have. My EAP at my old company found me one easily (my current tiny company has no EAP).
I’ve had much better luck with counselors than psychologists, personally! I found mine on better help. It’s still trial and error but there seems to be more availability with counselors and IME they are a bit less out of touch, and generally more helpful.
I’m in Chicago and yes it is hard to find a therapist here. What insurance does she have? It’s easier with BCBS.
My past few therapists have been social workers. LCSWs. They can be excellent therapists.
I’m not sure what her insurance is, I can ask.
I made some blueberry jam over the weekend, I’ve never made jam before but even though I added pectin the jam seems very … pourable. Did I do something wrong? Should I have let it simmer longer? Can I put it back in the pot and let it simmer longer now (I’m not at all expecting the cans to be shelf stable)?
Edit: it’s been 24 hours since they were canned and they don’t seem any thicker than when I poured it in to begin with.
In my experience it’s hard to make blueberry set. Strawberry is easier. You might be living with pourable jam for a while. How does it taste?
Abso-freaking-delicious. Like it’s a little bit of a problem how good it is and that it’s twenty feet away from my desk.
Congratulations, you made blueberry syrup! it’s all in the branding…
I’m okay with that.
