@turtlegirl just riding it out and not getting within striking distance of her claws
My cat growing up was very territorial and depending on which animal outside triggered her it would range from a few hours to still being aggressive towards us the next day (she’d be up patrolling the windows off and on all night). Once she went after my mom and sliced her ankle up badly, where she was normally a very cuddly cat with us.
A calming diffuser or spray can help a bit too but otherwise just time
Thanks for the article. Yeah… i did what the article says not to do! I tried to talk nicely to her and calm her down last night which probably made her angrier. I feel bad in hindsight for adding to her stress but I didn’t know what to do. Shutting myself in the bathroom this morning did seem to shorten the time. This is the first time it’s happened so now I’m better prepared if it happens again. Hopefully we’re done though!
Do you have a current passport? I’m not sure if you need to / it helps to send in the old one, even if it is expired.
I’ve always just kept mine. In all the decluttering and getting rid of stuff I’ve been doing lately, getting rid of old IDs didn’t occur to me. Huh.
Yes, I have a current one. I found the old one while cleaning out the waterproof/fireproof safe that we keep important stuff in, for hurricane prep. I had to renew in person because it was WAY expired. Did that in 2016-ish?
I’m home for lunch and she’s still unsure about me. she did hiss when she moved really close to me but then after a while she sat on the chair next to mine while I ate. I’m still just giving her space but it makes me sad because she’s always been a snugglebug.
I keep all old passports, if the current one is ever lost or stolen then it can be really helpful to have an expired one to use as proof of citizenship if needed
