I have seen people suggest an expired passport for go bags for this reason.

I have. I used pine nuts and parmesan. It was a lie. Kind of like hoping spaghetti squash will taste like spaghetti, lol.

But in the “kale and walnut pesto” sort of way or in a “oops I sprinkled dirt on my pasta and now it’s inedible” sort of way? lotsssss of CSA greens to use up over here.

I’ve not done pesto, but I eat a lot of turnip greens. Would recommend blanching first.

Actually, I’d cook them and eat them with beans and cornbread (dip the cornbread in the liquid from cooking them). I’m the only person I know around here who doesn’t throw out any turnips that happen to come with a bunch of greens…

Dirt on pasta IMO, but some people like it! If you have the greens to use anyway you might as well try a small batch.

I’m still learning to like new stronger greens so I’m guessing I’d be dirt on pasta camp as well then :grimacing: ty for the warning. Maybe I’ll offer them on Buy Nothing and see if a more gastronomically advanced neighbor wants them!

If you decide to keep them, I highly recommend browning a pack of bacon chopped small, with a red onion, and jalapeño, 6-8 cloves of garlic, then adding the greens (chopped very small) and braising them in the bacon fat for 45+ min (you might add a bit of water). Sometimes I add a little coconut aminos/soy sauce. If you have cajun seasoning, it’s a nice addition. I haven’t found a type of greens that does not taste good cooked this way

Or sauteed w/butter, salt, garlic, lemon, hot pepper flakes! I like most greens this way. (Except chard.)

I’ll give it a try. I really struggle with “wet” greens, so this is a big growth process for me. I have texture issues, lol.

Ah yes, I can see the texture thing being an issue. I do, after cooking the greens down for 45 min or so, take the lid off, turn the heat up and let them get almost crispy on the bottom, so they are less “wet”. It helps them to be more palatable, although probably still not for everyone!

Question on user behavior tracking

If I’ve received permission from a user, say for a research study or user feedback session, what software can I use to see how they interact with our social media channel?

I know there’s a way to do it with websites but don’t know any software off the top of my head.

Does anyone have a home haircut resource for an angled lob? The hair at my nape and all the ends at the back are trashed, but the hair from the top and front is still good, so I want to still feel like I have long hair

Probably long, sorry in advance…

I have a follow up question about my cat being aggressive to me now that I have more information. I have read a few articles which explain it but do not really give advice on how to solve the problem. I know exactly what caused it, there is no question on that. It has been 48 hours and just when I think she is better she starts up again. The first night was close to 90 minutes straight because I had no idea what to do and did all the wrong things. Yesterday there were 4 episodes, today there were 2 so far but the day is not over. I have learned enough now to manage to make them short at least.

Unfortunately, I believe the trigger for her is my face. When she initially got scared, she was yowling at a cat, but what she ended up seeing was my face up close as I leaned around her (and touched her) to close the window and now when we are face to face she starts up again. I can tell it is coming, because she starts staring at me and moving closer like she’s stalking me, then she hisses, then she yowls… Now when I see it start happening I move myself out of the way or close the door so she can’t see me, and she stops within a few minutes. One big thing is that she has always loved laying on my chest if I am on the couch reading or watching tv, and she still wants to be there, but now when she climbs up my stomach to my chest she sees my face and freaks out. This has happened both last night and tonight. Or when I am at the bathroom sink she gets on the counter and sees my face and freaks out. It is really making me sad. It is a little wild to have a hissing/yowling cat one inch from my face, you know? I can still pet her if she is not looking at me.

My actual question is… how do I stop her from hating my face? It’s not like I can just remove the stimuli… I know it has not been very long, but will she be able to get close to me again in time? Hopefully sooner than later? When she sleeps with me, she is fine and snuggles right into my neck purring like before, but it is dark and she cannot see my face. I feel truly terrible that I caused this to happen, and I know she is stressed out by it, but I don’t know if there is anything I should be doing other than sort of avoiding looking at her which I hate doing. She has always been a sweet snuggly cat and I really want that back. She has literally never behaved badly toward me or anyone else in 7 years. I am sure she still loves me, because she still tries to come up on my chest, but if my face is her trigger like I think it is, that is a big problem.

How does she react if you’re wearing a mask?

If she isn’t as reactive if your face looks different it might take less time for her to remember you’re awesome.

Does she have a favorite treat?

So if she were my cat this is what I would do-

  1. Call my vet and ask about Gabapentin for a few days.
My cats have turned into happy puddles on gabapentin and one of them loved his time on it so much, he would start purring the second he saw his carrier.
The idea with behavioral meds is to stop the reflexive action (aggression) for long enough to give you time to change the impulse - her brain would be practicing feeling good when she saw you instead of scared/angry.

  2. If that doesn’t solve it in a day, I’d use clicker training to recondition her reaction. I’ll type more on a computer tomorrow if you want.

I’m so sorry, this has got to be so hard for you

I don’t think she has seen me in a mask, I can try it tomorrow. It is about bedtime, so I don’t want to stir her up now. lol

She loves wet food so that is a treat when I come home from work. She hissed at me today when I was spooning it out because she got close to my face.

Is the clicker used when she starts hissing? I do not have a clicker, could get one though.

I now know that I screwed up and feel terrible for putting her through this so would love to fix it quickly if there is anything I can actually do for her…

Hugs, this sounds just awful :disappointed:

Clicker training is for positive reinforcement. Click when she does the behavior you want, followed by a treat.

Don’t be hard on yourself, you truly couldn’t have known you were doing the wrong thing in the moment :heartpulse: our cats react very poorly to seeing a local outdoor cat to the point where we had to start closing the back blinds at night. It was very scary when they got into a real fight and not a play fight about it once. I am hopeful your girl will be back to her old snuggly self with a little more time to settle.

I have no advice but just wanted to echo to be kind to yourself as well as your kitty. I probably would have done the same thing as you did and I know it would be heartbreaking to have my cat scared of me. It’s clear how much you love her and I hope she gets back to her cuddly self soon.
