She supposedly never learned to drive, but there’s an early episode (or book) where she is in England and she does drive! She does learn to fly later.
She does drink alcohol on several of the shows, usually wine, but I remember a margarita in at least one of the shows set in the SW US.
I am probably already as old as she was - and I am definitely NOT a stud magnet (no change from earlier years). I am also not a celebrity or a widow.

Should we compare and contrast the sheriffs?

Of list some actors that played multiple roles throughout the series?

Or start talking about Columbo (another of my favorites)?

There us also a series of books, most are on the internet archive - they seem to be contemporaneous with the series.

Angela Landsbury is still alive!

If they ever redo the series - I hope they do a dark twist with her as A Dexter! That would be cool.

OMG SPOILERS!! lol. I have never seen this show but I might have to start. Who am I to argue with peer pressure?

Question, would someone who liked Midsommer Murders (if I remember the title correctly - murder of the week type show in scenic UK countryside) also like Murder She Wrote? Basically is the scenery good and the people charming when they’re still alive?

Oops fixed that. Sorry.

Yes - it very much fits a Cozy Mystery (Midsommer is much bolder in that regard). Murder She Wrote is sort of Agatha Chrisie-esque.

I sm a bit of a murder mystery fan.

I LOVED Columbo and watched that a lot growing up. Side note but one place I worked had a giant portrait of the first president of the organization hanging in the entryway and the guy looked JUST LIKE Peter Falk and no one ever referenced it. Like, the audacity.

@meerkat Yes! I also just became aware of Midsomer Murders and I like Murder She Wrote a lot better, way less male gaze-y IMO, but still all the cozy mystery vibes.

I was around and aware of the series through probably its entire run, and yet I’m sure I never watched it. I see I’m going to have to fix that now.

There is only one Sheriff in my heart and that is Amos Tupper.

New York Sheriff is a bimbo.

No Mort Metzger for you eh?

But did you like Amos more as Father Dowling?

Haha nope. I wish we got to meet his wife though.

I have only brief memories of watching Father Dowling with my Grandma, but it’s all jumbled together with Nick at Nite and British comedies. Good?

Well, the Father Dowling Mysteries kind of sucked, I blame Sister Stephanie.

@Bernadette Was it you who was watching a British murder mystery show with herbs in the name? My googling is not returning anything useful.

Rosemary and Thyme - two women (botanist and helper). It’s on BritBox. I don’t think many seasons were made.
