Would a short term disability policy cover a planned-in-advance surgery (i.e. my eventual second top surgery)?
Thinking through if that might be worth purchasing for myself. Haven’t quoted it out yet, so it might turn out to not even be worth it.
eta: sounds like maybe from my own googling, so long as my surgeon certifies that it is “medically necessary.”
Might be a lot of faff to deal with for trans stuff.
They may also have a policy exclusion for planned surgeries within X months of the plan starting, so that’s worth asking about. I think I had to have STD coverage for 12 months before they’d cover any maternity stuff. Yay 'Murika. (I may also be misremembering or conflating FMLA or one of those other things.)
TL/DR: what’s the best way to find accessories (a basket and chain guard) for an old izip E3 electric bike from 2015?
Backstory: I’m trying to start biking to work again. I hated this last time a tried (a decade ago) because it was so much work to get the d#*! bike out of the house, make sure I had everything in a backpack rather than my hands, make sure my pants were rolled up, get my helmet on, then when I got there figure out how to balance the bike while getting it chained up and trying to strip off the helmet/backpack while sweaty. Getting a side paneer bag didn’t help because it was still something I had to wrestle with.
So I’m trying to solve for my biggest problems by (permanently?) borrowing an old ebike (less sweaty), adding a big basket (throw multiple things in without having to pack it all nicely) and a chain guard (less thinking about my outfit).
Before you invest any $, make sure the bike still has sufficient battery capacity for what you need it to do. E-bike batteries are sometimes not very well-designed for longevity and/or don’t handle being not charged for long periods of time.
Chain guard is something that would probably need to be very specific to that bike. See if the manufacturer ever made one? Maybe ask in a e-bike specific forum? Not sure if endless sphere is still an active community or not, but that used to be e-bike central a few years back.
Baskets are probably something a local bike shop could help with, though from my experience bike commuting the balance problem would be even worse than a pannier. I used 2 panniers (even when I didn’t need the capacity) and tried to keep the weight balanced between the two of them. Even then, many kickstands just struggle with that task.
I would go into a local bike shop with the bike (if possible) and see what baskets and chain guards they might have. The shop I worked at had a bin of random take off accessories like chain guards (because most people wanted them taken off) so you never know if they have something hiding in the back they can give you! I also recommend getting a center mount kickstand installed, if there already isn’t one. With a bike as heavy as an e-bike + added commuter gear, it’s really hard to balance the weight on a single side.
This is just an example, but most shops have one or can order one:
I think it’s the phrasing of “hat and scarf” that reads weird. I would naturally write, “here is a soft fluffy hat and a scarf!” The phrasing of “hat and scarf” almost makes it seem like a singular item like “fish and chips” I’ll have AN order of fish and chips. I won’t buy AN hat and scarf.
The problem is that if you want to say that both the scarf and the hat are soft and fluffy, you should just rewrite that sentence, but it’s not grammatically incorrect as it stands.
Walmart grocery delivery questions. They’ve just expanded it to this area, but I’d need to meet them at the foot of the mountain (in a vehicle that can haul groceries, so right now that’s likely the tractor as the Wranger is all full of parts of the Wrangler’s dash…)
So, does anyone know if Walmart’s delivery drivers contact you as they are heading out?
Feel free to joke about me getting my Walmart in my tractor on the mountainside - I’m aware.
