Call and ask? I don’t have any experience BUT curbside has taught me that how a location “should” do something isn’t always how they do lol.

Thing is, I trust you guys more than I trust their answers. I’ll call, but also hoping someone here has used it.

Edit - talked to the guy in charge at the local store and he’s gonna call me when he hands off an order at the store. Hope he remembers.

I more meant it’s going to vary SO much on location, even if they’re supposed to call. Our closest store forgot us sitting at curbside several times. The same store chain 10 min further away runs like a German train station. :woman_shrugging:

People who hang out with babies: have you ever bought a Christmas stocking that you could fit a whole newborn baby in?* I was a December baby and came home from the hospital in a stocking, and was hoping to get one for my friends who just had a baby. I’m googling and looking everywhere you’d expect, but every search I’ve tried just pulled up either stockings you’d hang on the mantle or stockings for baby feet.

*Everyone involved is a reasonable person, so this is a photo op situation, not a leave the baby alone for hours in a stocking situation.

Awww so cute. I’d probably go to a store in person and find one big and soft enough. Most babies should pop into largenormal stockings.

This baby was five when the pictures was taken.

(not helpful, I just love that picture)

Regular sized baby and regular sized stocking:

ETA: exactly one week old. Still a bit of a cone head there.

Look on Etsy for a photo prop?

No options! Unless I wanted to buy a crochet pattern, which I don’t.

I think a regular sized stocking works, my only advice is that it be a stretchy one. My baby endured a bit of cramming, because the fabric had no give. Unrelated but this is also my rant about baby clothes. They simply shouldn’t be made without stretch to accommodate baby body parts.

I searched “giant Christmas stocking” and found a couple! LOL

Also Amazon has some that you could fit a 10yo into!

So I was looking for something specifically made for babies, so that it would be soft enough and not too tight. Mine had a little arm slit, so I was thinking that might be a thing. I think I’ll just end up taking @Elle’s advice and going somewhere where I can touch the big stockings to find a good baby sized one. Thanks for checking.

FWIW, many stockings are made of material that would not ravel (felt, faux fur) and you could totes just cut a little slit. Good luck with your hunt!

!! Didn’t even think of this, thanks.

The knit ones at Target are a decent size and very stretchy. I could see a baby fitting in there.

Okay y’all who understand health insurance bullshit I need some help here. I read the blog post by @anomalily on co-pay v co-insurance but I’m still confused.

So here’s the situation. Bro will be having his hernia repair surgery next month in January. He’s been told by the surgeon’s office that he needs to pay them $609 for his part of the cost. After seeing that the co-insurance is 40% after deductible my Dad is freaking out thinking the surgery’s gonna cost like $20K and Bro’s gonna be stuck with 40% of that. But I think he might just end up paying the $609. I’m not willing to bet on that though. Here’s some screenshots from his plan documents. The surgery should be outpatient.

Assuming the provider is in-network, the max possible charge would be the out of pocket maximum, which is $700 if I’m reading it correctly.

That’s what I’m thinking. The surgeon is in network.

Then it should only be $700. When my first kiddo was born, she spent two weeks in the NICU. The bill for that (back in 2006) was over $30K but we only had to pay the OOP max. And then had “free” healthcare the rest of that year
