Based on my purchasing for Luigi, you are probably good on a small for most brands. Sweaters that are some sort of rib knit will give you more wiggle room. Most of the extra small stuff I’ve seen looks to fit more along the lines of little 7lb Chihuahuas.
I get it, I put off shredding until I have a pile. It might help to start with just a short chunk of time. Set a timer for 15 minutes and focus on one task only (sorting vs. shredding vs. collecting paper in room). Do your 15 minutes and then take a break and do a different task. So, if you started by sorting for 15 minutes, then when your time is up, deal with whatever recycling, shredding and urgent items you have and then take a rest/recharge break if needed. If you started with collecting paper, then deal with some of the old shredding or take a break. Then do another 15 minute cycle. A little at a time is better than avoiding it. The stress of having it hang over me is worse.
She’s 4, so full grown. She was rescued from a breeder, so maybe she’s small because of that? I always thought shih tzus were a bit larger than 10 pounds. Thanks for the tips, I will order smalls and my niece can always trade them in if they don’t fit.
A small was too small when my dog was 15 pounds (she’s gained a few more as she’s aged, like most of us) so I would guess extra small would be too small for 10 pounds. Another vote for small!
@Oro, no one threw me/us a shower for our second kid and I was sad about it. Not because I needed people to buy me stuff, just because I wanted this upcoming baby to also be celebrated like the first time.
Cleared out. I don’t think a seller should be there, so the inspector can speak frankly. The seller’s agent can be there though if you’re worried about the buyers getting into stuff you don’t want them to. And they can call or text you with questions.
My impression and experience also. In fact, my buyers agent for this current place was adamant that sellers agent was there when they gave the rundown so they could impart the “seriousness” of the 2 big things I asked to be remedied to their client (so that they could see it directly and hear directly from the horse’s (inspector’s) mouth).
-subscription to the Atlantic/other newspapers
-Gourmet chocolate/coffee/teas
-Ulta gift card (no specific products because that turns into variants of this: oh so you got me this smoothing serum, so you think my hair is messed up?? Lol)
-houseplants
Things I don’t care too much to receive in that role
-Throw blankets (not counting hand made crafts that’s different!)
-Random hand towels with corny messages
-strongly scented hand soaps
My recommendations based on me lol-
-nothing scented
-nice socks or mittens or other seasonally appropriate, no size guessing necessary items are good
-weighted sleep mask, satin pillowcase, state items of home state like cutting boards/ornaments/what have you can be good options that are pretty universal
Probably no food gifts, as her palate is very limited. (We are getting fiancé’s brother some fun chili crisp sauce.) Comes from a wealthy family. Likes candles.
My gosh! Solve this problem by not inviting assholes to the shower.* I’ve never heard anyone say anything like that, but I also come from a celebrate everything family and culture.
*I know it’s not that simple. But really. If you don’t have anything nice to say, stay the fuck home.
Can I ask what brand this was? And, a year later do you still love it?? My spouse is having increasing back problems (has a consult with a neurosurgeon next week) and we really need a new mattress anyway. We’ve been thinking about avocado but would love to hear your updated review!
I love my bed! so much! I can’t wait to get in bed at night haha. I really feel like my back has improved since I got this bed. The brand is Chattam and Wells, and the model I got was “Francesca” which I think was just a Mattress Firm specific model. It was a closeout when I got it ($2200 down from $5900 ) but it was worth every penny. I would recommend going to mattress firm and trying some of the “Luxury” models, which tend to be latex, and weird brands you’ve never heard of. A lot of times they have floor models on clearance, like when I got this one I chose between 3-4 different luxury clearance models.
I went to their website, and I think the one most similar to mine is probably the “Claremont Plush” but it looks like they have a firm version too. I feel like my bed is quite firm, it doesn’t sink in at all, super easy to roll over, firm supportive edge, so I can’t imagine what the firm feels like! http://www.chattamandwells.us/latex
Thanks!! I just did a Google maps search and there are about 15 mattress stores within two miles of us, including an Avocado retail location and a mattress firm. I guess we will be going mattress shopping as soon as we can find childcare lol.
Dog sweaters. What do I need to know to pick good ones? We may be (fingers crossed!) adopting a stray underweight three-year-old Maltese mix doggy as soon as tomorrow evening. Winter is real here. He is between 8-9 pounds and should be 10. His foster mom recommends sweaters for him, even for inside the house at least until he gets his weight up. I saw some really cute doggy hoodies online, but I immediately worried a hood could get caught on something and be a safety concern.
Food advice/vet advice. Because the rescue we are adopting from works with a lot of special needs and older doggies, his foster Mom feeds Purina Pro Max Sensitive skin and stomach for small breeds, first ingredient is salmon. We are hoping to get him a vet appointment about a week after bringing him home, but we may have to be flexible because appointments are hard to come by at a lot of practices. We are also interviewing mobile vets. We’ve been advised to let him decompress before doing anything stressful with him such as a vet appointment. He was given a basic check up from the shelter and tested for heart worm (negative), is on preventative for heartworm and fleas/ticks, received shots, and was neutered a couple weeks ago. He has some tartar but no indication of worrisome dental disease. He’s crate trained and got used to the crate after a few days.
I am aware of a process to slowly add a new kibble to the existing kibble to transition food slowly. I am looking for advice on what kind/brand of food to add. Would it be appropriate to add some puppy food, since he is relatively young and needs to gain weight? I will of course take advice from his vet once he has one. He hates wet dog food though. He love treats and eats his kibble okish but does not have a voracious appetite for the kibble, so I think I would be OK adding a higher calorie kibble. I am also aware of feeding multiple times a day not just breakfast and dinner. I’m not sure though if he clears his food between meals, he may be a grazer!
I’m happy to accept tips and advice over in my journal. I suppose I should try to figure out how to add a link to my journal!
