Note the price shown is a three pack because apparently there is a minimum quantity of three. This is what we use, although we bought them from Grainger not Uline. I like them but you can’t hold a pan in your hand indefinitely with them or the heat will come through. These are rated to 400°f. We bought these as a much cheaper alternative to the highly marketed “Over Glove” and our first pair lasted over a decade. I do think you cook more than I do so if you would want this product a three pack might be good to have more on hand and in case of washing a dirty pair etc.

There are gloves that go higher up to protect your wrists and forearms, too. Most cost a bit more but if you search for “Steel mill gloves” you should find some options.

I personally like welding gloves a lot. More dexterity than most oven mitts and more heat proof as well except for very steamy things. I also use them for setting up my charcoal grill because I can even quickly move hot coals around to shape the fire safely.

Anyone have recommendations for funny/light podcasts that are not sexist, political, or with the tone of “everything is terrible”? Drop 'em here if you do! They don’t have to be LOL funny, can be just interesting slice of life stuff too (maybe educational about nature or something?) I’m just politicked out and I feel like everyone is doing that. Like what is with the depressing AF stand up comedy? Anyway, haha, share your recs!

By the Book is two friends who read a self-help book and live by what it says for two weeks. They talk about what’s in the book, how well it worked for them, what they did or didn’t like, etc. Usually fun and light, but sometimes it ends up leading to more serious conversations.

Mission to Zyxx. It’s a sci-fi role playing comedy about the adventures of the crew of a space ship. They’re kind of a bunch of misfits and the show has some great characters.

ETA You Bet Your Garden is a nice listen. It’s a public radio show where they talk about different gardening topics and take listener questions.

With a warning that my tastes run dark or serious for podcasts, I’ve been switching to podcasts that I’m happy to share with my toddler. They might work for you down the line or in another mood, they also could appeal to others. I’m also dabbling in beauty and minimalist podcasts but they haven’t stuck yet:
Wellness mama (interviews with experts about crunchy or integrative medicine stuff)
Science vs (goes into the science on something, the last one I listened to was about therapy, really cool)
Tides of History (really old history, very calming)
Noble blood (history of random nobles, can be sad)
Unreserved - VERY political but I feel good or energetic after

I second By the Book! Love those two.

Also A Beautiful Mess is a podcast by two sisters who have been blogging for a thousand years, and they usually keep it pretty light.

If you have any affinity for Game of Thrones, Harry Potter, Star Wars, or Marvel films, Binge Mode is amazing – they have a season on each of these, plus a bunch of shorter series and standalone episodes. When Jason Mantzoukas comes on as a guest, I laugh and laugh and laugh.

Speaking of Mantzoukas … there is (was) a podcast called Thirst Aid Kit where two very funny women express thirst for various people, including Mantzoukas, who then comes on an episode as a guest and I swear it is the funniest hour I ever listened to.

Young House Love is not making new eps of their podcast at present but they have a big backlog of sunny/funny episodes. Mostly home-related content.

Some I like:

The Anthropocene Reviewed - John Green does short reviews of different aspects of life. Some can be more serious or touching, but they all have some sweetness and hope and humor in them.

Hello Internet - unfortunately it’s on hiatus right now but there’s a large back catalog. It’s two nerdy guys who make educational YouTube videos just talking about everyday life.

The Unmade Podcast - two childhood friends from Australia talk about ideas for podcasts they will never make. They get distracted by flights of fancy and inside jokes sometimes. It is very light and wholesome.

I was going to rec The Anthropocene Reviewed, too. Generally I really like the Green brothers’ work (if you want to just listen to YouTube, I’d also rec Crash Course History, you don’t need to watch to understand everything).

I also like stuff like Lore and Welcome to Nightvale, but I don’t know if I’d call those light.

I will second young house love and science vs.

For more design, design matters
For more science, ologies, lingthusiasm
For TV rewatch, fake doctors real friends and office ladies
Trivia: ask me another, no such thing as a fish
Funny interviews: Conan, smartless, why won’t you date me
Pure ridiculousness: mortified
Bbc sounds: you’re dead to me (history), teach me a lesson

The Memory Palace, the Allusionist, and Song Exploder are all nice short podcasts where you learn something you would probably never learn anywhere else. 99 percent invisible is similar, although some of the episodes skew darker. I also like “Good One,” where comedians are interviewed about a specific joke they made, although I only listen to the episodes where I know the comedian’s work.

Oohh they have an episode about The Loophole, DOWNLOADED.

I have a Logitech wireless gaming headset (with mic) that I use for work (and everything else, including gaming) that is really great, has really great noise cancelling and great sound quality and range, the one downside is that it is pretty heavy. I’ve had it for years now, and, well, the charging port has become finicky (the plug has to be just so in order to actually charge, so something has become loose on the inside) so I think its days are numbered. I do not want to do Teams calls on my onboard mic on my laptop (which is garbage, as are the speakers), so suddenly this has become urget as it might be any day now that I can’t get it to charge anymore.

Anyone have any recommendations for a quality headset? My one deal breaker is that it must be wireless, I do a lot of pacing on meeting and while I am thinking. It would be nice if it was lighter weight than my current monstrosity, but that’s not a deal breaker. I am not opposed to paying good money for this, my current one was not cheap has provided me great flexibility and freedom and has served me well.

(ETA: I mean, I could just get another pair by Logitech, which is a good brand. But I thought I’d see if there is a better option.)

I’ve never been disappointed by Sennheiser. Very comfortable and last forever.

Oh I Like That - kind of what it says on the tin. Things the hosts are enjoying doing, reading, eating, etc that week, plus it’s usually themed around, for example, throwing good parties or something.

I also have approximately 100 million fiction podcasts in my queue if that is your jam.

This is Love- usually very sweet
Hidden Brain- I really love this one, very interesting stuff
This American Life- some stories are more serious but many are pretty light
Grammar Girl- not funny, but definitely mild and interesting if you don’t hate grammar
A Slight Change of Plans- sometime heavier topics but the stories are told in a fairly light way

I’m listening to Drew Barrymore on Dax Shepherd’s podcast right now and it’s incredible. I mean, I have a pre-existing love for her but she’s just got the most amazing attitude and I’m finding it really uplifting to listen to her (and Dax is not as obnoxious as I feared he would be – I’ve never listened to him before).
