You’re not wrong, and it’s like that in my hometown too, but damn if that doesn’t just sum up what’s wrong with wages vs. cost of living.

How should I decorate this tree for Halloween? I tried doing bat ornaments last year but the tree is so dark the black bats didn’t show up well. I could spray paint them glittery purple maybe but I’m open to other ideas too.

There is some vaccine hesitancy. But I am hopeful it’s a vocal minority. I suppose time will tell. At the moment most states are using their full allocation of vaccines every week

Cat owners! How do you find cat sitters you trust enough to have in your home? I’ve always had friends do it but we’re not friendly with anyone in the building. We don’t want to board him so that’s not an option. I know there are some sites for this kind of thing, recommendations? Things I should ask/know? Thanks!

We used Yelp and always had a good experience. You can also ask for referrals from their clients, I believe. @JanetJackson Is that a weird thign to do? Haha

I have cat lady neighbors  but I’ve also read loads and loads of Google reviews of local petsitting businesses to find a good fit (for kitty with medical needs and raw food diet so I was very very picky).

Checking in with your vet if they have anyone trusted they can recommend is a good idea too.

Oh good idea - this is how I ended up with 99% of my petsitting clients

Oh! And also how I ended up with Oldster! Ha!

What Bracken said is true. 20% is more than we two teachers make annually. We will need to put it all toward the house.

Not weird at all.

@AllHat Last I checked, the Rover app still had an option for users to add a background check to their profile, so that is something that you can look for as well as an abundance of reviews on their profile.
Also chat a little bit with them and request a meet and greet before you have them coming into your home so that they are not a stranger to your pet and so that you can check out their general vibe in person (masks, etc of course).
Rover is what I used before I had a formal business and many of my clients just transferred straight over from there to get me started.

It’s a pretty good platform and you may even find someone that you trust long-term and y’all can start operating outside of the platform.

It is not unreasonable at all to be careful who you allow into your home and to care for a pet with medical needs.
After that first visit, since they have provided a bit of extra time to you for no charge, it might be nice to leave a little tip for them extra.
