Does one seed/seedling end up as a multi flowered plant? I couldn’t find good pics online of an actual zinnia or dahlia plant, only the flowers. Like if I compared it to the size of a daisy plant, I have room for a few but not like a lot of each type.
All 3 should also be available as starts. At least here they’re common.
I’m willing to try seeds but starts would be easier for me!
Do y’all want to help me brainstorm for creating a one shot for an ongoing D&D game I’m part of?
The DM in the weekly game I play has indicated that he’d like a break so I was considering running a one shot. Difficulty: I’ve basically never DM’d and three of the four players are veteran DMs. They’ll help me with the rules stuff but let me take the lead on story stuff.
Party details and very bare bones plot hook idea
The party is about level 14 and currently consists of:
- A goblin rogue/bard who is determined to make friends wherever he goes in spite of the constant racism he has to deal with, he also constantly gets into trouble (he has tasted angel blood and demon blood I think). If there’s a big red button with a sign that says “Do Not Push”, well, he’s going to push it. He’ll check for traps first but that button is getting pushed.
- A gnome artificer. He is the most sane party member and is generally our “face” person.
- A human wizard who was a hermit prior to joining our party. He recently drew a Wish card and wished to know all the secrets of the library-fortress Candlekeep so now he hears voices from deceased people that used to live at Candlekeep who are basically all tenured professors and they’re constantly getting into overly involved conversations about magical theory. Oh and he also has a baby knowledge spirit thing as a stomach tattoo. We refer to this character as New Guy since he joined the party after a previous character, a bugbear fighter, died facing a beholder.
- TBD, this’ll be the current GM’s character. Probably needs to be something combat-y since we lost our fighter and my character is a barbarian but she won’t be around if I’m DMing.
The goblin is a patron of an orphanage so I had an idea that a newly arrived orphan from [place TBD] would have a tale about [BBEG TBD] that the party should go help investigate, my character can’t go because Reasons but the rest of the group goes to check it out and are introduced to the temporary character the current DM will be playing.
I think I’ll customize the BBEG and maybe some of the minion creature whatevers that they end of fighting since everyone else playing is so very well versed in D&D lore, but then obviously I have to know why they’re custom.
We just started a new story arc to go investigate a castle so I’ve got some time to work this out. I have a bunch of Matt Mercer and Ginny Di videos to listen to in the background at work today.
EDIT: Or if someone just wants to be a sounding board, that would also be appreciated.
Yes, zinnias have multiple flowers. There are a lot of different varieties and some are quite small, but the ones we have this summer are about 3’ tall at this point.
This was my first year growing dahlias. I had one small bag of tubers and didn’t think they would grow, threw them in a pot outside. After transplanting them into a bigger planter, they have grown 4 ft high and almost 4 ft across in full sun. And this is from one small package of bulbs (tubers)!
I grew up with a dahlia obsessed parent. They come in so many sizes, everything from 6” tall to 7-8 feet tall and flowers 12” wide. They’re really cool flowers.
Anyone* have ultra low flow toilets (0.8 gallon/flush)?
Our city is offering to install them for free but the brochure says to switch to single ply toilet paper and limit how much you use. I’m wondering if it’s a bad idea to get them in a household with a young kid, frequent grandparent visits, and at least one adult with digestive issues
*I’m assuming this mostly applied to US folks as I think toilets are designed differently in other parts of the world
I do, and for just myself and the occasional visitor it’s been generally fine. When I was using up some weird 3-ply toilet paper I’d picked up for whatever reason I had a couple instances where I had to plunger/re-flush, but with my usual 2-ply I don’t think I’ve ever had a problem. However, I know some people who got replacements at the same time (also a city program) and have had to call out plumbers several times for blockages to the point of the couple with the rental saying they’d put up a ‘flush twice for #2’ sign in one bathroom.
One of ours is (and the other is the original toilet my dad installed in the house I grew up in and uses like seven gallons…) We’ve never had trouble from the low flow, but we use single ply anyway in order to baby the septic system.
What is the cheapest way to rent a minivan for a long weekend?
Check Turo, but right now rental cars are incredibly in demand and expensive and hard to get
My boss booked a car a month or so ago for the wrong date and when he had to cancel and rebook it had gone up $300 for the week. I think it was $600 and ended up at $900. They would not just change his dates for him for the same cost of course.
If you’ve got any kind of corporate connection, check that…I had a relative who wanted a car for a family reunion(ish thing, long story) so I did the official rental using my company’s rental code,* and even paying an extra $10ish/day for her to be a second driver, it was still about a third of the price as renting alone would have been for her.
*For the record this is completely fine and acceptable per my company as long as I have my own insurance, I suspect it’s a YMMV type thing
Oh you can also rent through Costco if you’re a member
Minivans were really expensive to rent even pre-pandemic. Big SUVs were usually cheaper by quite a bit. So that might be worth checking if you won’t be doing a lot of miles.
This sort of a question, perhaps a challenge?
Note: I love looking at houses online, regardless of location, it’s a “hobby” I suppose.
The question is… have you EVER seen a house that looked more like it would be full of zombies than THIS HOUSE?
Can one get pet insurance for two young cats who are FIV positive? Is it even worth it?
That is definitely a horror movie house where you go to die
Also like, those were the best and most marketable photos they could get. WHAT WERE THE REJECTS LIKE? Just full poltergeists chilling in the trees, I imagine.
