Does Thredup offer referral bonuses and if so can someone give me a referral? A couple of my go-to shirts have decided to get holes so it’s probably time to stop procrastinating on a closet overhaul.
My athletic coaches always told me to dilute sports drinks in half for good hydration
Chicago is like right on the border. I’d love to talk about things like low-cost, low-labor ways to make rentals more homey. Been following along as Read My Tea Leaves makes incremental upgrades to her rental apartment in NYC and it inspires me.
There’s a give 10, get 10 on my account. Not sure if it’s like some services with tiers- maybe wait on someone who uses it more to check? Otherwise I’ll PM you my link.
We’re going out with my cousin on her boat this week and I’d like to throw a few bucks her way for gas and such. Mostly because I invited myself, but also partially because I don’t want to be a free-loader. How much do you think is reasonable for two people? I was thinking $40 (20 each). I know it costs a lot more than that to go out for the day, but they are going even if we don’t go. Or is it awkward to offer?
Can you offer to cover food/drink? Might be a less awkward way to handle the issue.
Since it’s her boat and you aren’t all renting it I’d do what @Marcela suggested. Food and drinks all the way!
Great idea!
What’s the best bug spray for mosquitoes and ticks? Does Off Deep Woods work ok? I’m usually just at the mercy of nature and get bites but I’m going to be camping in a swamp for 3 days 2 nights so… I need something
I do fine with that or with the much cheaper Cutter brand from a dollar store - what you’re looking for is percentage of DEET - the Cutter that works for me is 40%. I spray hat, back of arms, back of neck, and around my ankles (tops of feet if in sandals). Be forewarned it dissolves nail polish, or rather turns it into a goo that never dries again.
Does anyone have promo codes for a meal delivery service that they’d be willing to send my way? Looking for delivery in the US but otherwise flexible. Thanks!
Yeah, products that contain DEET will melt synthetics so are really only safe on natural fibers. If you want to use on synthetics, I recommend Sawyer Picaridin (20% probably), which is safe on natural fibers and synthetics. It is also a different type of chemical.
Do you know if Dollar Tree sells tarps? I’m going tomorrow anyway to check up on bug spray. If they don’t have tarps I might get a shower curtain? There’s a smaller chance of rain and i want something to throw over my bug net suspension if needed.
But also - don’t shower curtains have awful chemicals and I’m worried that weird smell might ruin my night of sleeping outside
Open to other outdoor sleeping rain shield options I haven’t thought of…
Unlikely to have a tarp of any significant size, if at all. A shower curtain might be a good idea, and they’ll have those. I’d suspect there are also offgassing smells in any tarp, Dollar Tree or not, don’t think you can completely avoid that.
I’ve had dollar store tarps. You get what you pay for, but for some situations it’s adequate.
I’m planning on branching out on flowers a bit next year because of the pretties on the flower thread. Cosmos, zinnia, and dahlia are the ones I’m thinking of, but I’ve never paid much attention to them. Am I correct that I will only find these in seed form? Or are plants available at the correct time? Are they all annuals? I’ve only done perennials until now.
Cosmos and zinnia are usually started from seed and are annuals. Dahlia I usually find as tubers. They are perennial in warmer climates than yours, but you can dig the tubers and store them over winter.
Thanks. I’m really better at dropping a plant in a hole, but I’m going to try seeds! If I get seed packets, do I have to plant them all or do they keep for a few years? I’m seeing some that have like 30-50 seeds, and some are even 1000 which I would never buy. But even 30 is a lot.
Zinnias are so easy. And the seeds will be viable for several years. Also, mine self-seeded this year for the first time, probably because this is the first spring I didn’t mulch that bed.
I do start zinnias from seed inside and then plant them out as seedlings. I keep seeds forever, though.
Cosmos will sometimes self seed, depending on what the goldfinches leave behind. Otherwise I just toss some seed out in the spring and ruffle it into the ground.
