Icing various body parts, but especially my hip/psoas (like while lying on my side) so it needs to be able to kind of drape over me and ice the front and back at the same time. I’ve tried the refillable medical packs that are intended as hot/cold packs for ice or water but they’re so thick they impede the cold, and most of them are small and less flexible than a t-shirt bag. Medical gel packs aren’t as good as actual ice either, IMO, since you can’t put them directly on your skin, plus the cold has a v different quality. T-shirt bags filled with ice are hands down the best thing but they get holes really easily and I’d love something more reusable.

Hmmm, I mainly just use gel packs myself. And even ziplocks get holes fairly quickly when reusing in my experience, though generic non-freezer ziplocks have the thinnest plastic . That’s a tough one! I’ll noodle on it but can’t think of anything off the top of my head.

Is the child tax payment stuff “new” $ or is it just pre-refunding income tax credits for the current tax year? Because if it’s the latter I think we’ll end up owing on our taxes instead of getting a refund

It’s pre-refund as far as I know (from reading news, I don’t have kids so I don’t get it). According to some analyses I’ve read, it will mess up some peoples’ taxes next year.

ETA: By which I mean, people who “expect” to get a refund won’t get it (or will get less). It’s not extra money, it’s meant to smooth it out more for people struggling right now.

I’m sure you probably have. but have you tried those post surgical pumps that recirculate ice water from a little cooler in through a little pad? With my mom and brother (both have had multiple knee surgeries), we’ve found those to be the best and a durable option, we’ve reused the same two for ages.

I have tenure, so I refuse to perpetuate pseudoscience on the job as a matter of policy, and I make a lot of noise about it so others also feel empowered to resist.

Yes! Those work really well but they’re heavy and more unwieldily than just a bag/pack.

Good to know. I’ll just stash most of it I guess.

I use frozen peas - sacrifice a bag or two to the ice pack gods (aka refreeze and use as ice packs, but not food).

If you double bag the ziploc, they do last a long time. Also, there’s a formula where you mix isopropyl alcohol with water and it gets slushy, so it molds to you better.

The old child credit was $2k and now it’s $3k I believe (or $3600 if they’re toddlers), so I believe you should still owe less/get refunded more. But I’m not an expert.

I just did this test as part of a test group I’m in, and I got INTJ-T

“Turbulent Architects are often fueled by their worries and concerns, and these can be used to make significant progress. They can often see problems (and sometimes find solutions) long before others.”
and
“Turbulent Architects are moved forward in life to a greater degree by their concerns, worries, and how others might see them.”

which doesn’t seem that far off. But I’d hate to have that as part of team building where folks like my boss then spend the next two years saying “well you did x because you’re an []”. It’s much better doing it in a context of ‘do this and think about how that might impact what you’d be happiest doing long term’.

I’m so sorry. Family is the worst. I hide mine when people come over. I only let my mom use my cast iron, it can take anything lol (and I know she won’t put it in a dishwasher).
