I’d think you only need to keep the documents relating to taxes (if you itemized the deduction of your mortgage interest) for however long you need to keep tax records.

As angry-making as it is, as far as I know ceramic nonstick can still be used, unlike Teflon non-stick?

IDK but ours is no longer nonstick which I think means we need a new one?

Yeah I’m not sure on the safety side, I’ve never looked into it. We’ve had to replace them as they lose their nonstick, generally right after family visits  hence hiding them…

Does biotin actually help thinning hair? UGH, MY 30s, CURSE YOU!

I read this as Bitcoin and I was very, very confused.

I do not have your answer, but if I get a chance this morning I’ll look into it more if no one else does. My suspicion would be only if you’re deficient because of diet or GI absorption, but that’s just my hunch.

ETA more likely given your kiddos age would by thyroid changes. Have you had a full thyroid panel recently?

So … maybe. A couple of studies suggested it helped. I haven’t fished out the studies to check sample size or other indicators of good design or analysis.

I live in Colorado and am sensitive to wild fire smoke. I feel like I’m dumber when the AQI is at 80ish, and I am simply too dumb already. Has anyone here made changes to their HVAC systems to add air purification filters or components? We have a few stand-alone filters, but I wonder how complicated/expensive it would be to upgrade.

Bitcoin actually makes you lose hair. Truefactscience.
I’ve tried a bunch of hair supplements. I did well with a traditional Chinese remedy that you need prescribed by an accupuncturist (I want to say women’s precious?) And with bamboo tea. Also with getting iron and vitamin B12 when I needed it

We upgraded our intake filter to a Merv 13 and added two free standing HEPA filters to our house. We have a Blueair 211 in the main downstairs part of the house and a coway mighty upstairs in the baby’s room. All together it was a few hundred dollars to get the purifiers and is ~$150 to replace all three HEPA filters every 6 months or so.

ETA i missed that you already have standalone purifiers! From what I’ve read, upgrading your ac intake filter to a merv13 is essentially adding a HEPA filter to it. I’m not sure what other upgrades would help.

Main thing when modifying filtration of the HVAC system proper is to make sure you’re not introducing too much drag in the system. I damaged and eventually burnt out the blower motor on ours unknowingly by using too strong of a filter.

In Jade’s case, it was stress that caused it. Once things calmed down again, the thinning stopped and started to reverse.

Yep, this. Motor overload is a big problem when there’s too much air resistance. Gotta make sure you’re not having heat management and load problems.

Oh no! So “luckily” (since it will be $$$$) pros will be involved, since we sadly need more than just new filters.

Thanks, this is helpful! Part of the problem is that we bought our air purifiers for a 500 square foot apartment, and have since moved to a 2200 square foot house, so we’d need to buy more or different air purifiers. We also desperately need a/c and will probably have to replace at least one of our HVAC systems, so I’m wondering if we can feed multiple birds with one scone.

So…basically we’ve gone off the rails spending-wise and now we need to super tighten things up and get back in money saving mindset. Would people be interested in a thread for getting back on track, especially with mindset? I was thinking it could be random sharing of tips, things saved on, things not spent, strategies for eliminating bloat, inspiration in the form of videos/articles, etc. LMK what you think!

  • Yes! I would participate in this.
  • Nah, there are enough money threads.
  • I’d read it but I wouldn’t participate.
  • I just really like answering polls.

I’ve decided to just not buy a car until this electric VW van is available. Valid strategy or no?

That looks incredible.
When self-driving car technology takes over I’m going to get a campervan. I’ll tell it to take me to whatever distant place, then go into the back and take a nap. I’ll wake up and be there!

I am so sad. I voted, looked at the results, figured out how many people participated based on the percentages shown, and then saw that the number of voters was on the side in very large font, just like it always is.

This is why I don’t do anything involving my brain after 10pm
