My uncle is Lawrence and gets called Larry by most people or Laurie by some people.

Thank you all! Today I learned.

(And to add our Larry to the case of characters: lawyer husband is having to deal with through work. Described by one of his coworkers as “crayon eating Larry” :grimacing::laughing:)

What do I do if in calculating my tax for my 1040 form I get fractional cents? Do I round up? Do I ask for $__ and 51.76 cents as a refund?

1040 does everything in whole dollars.

@Greyweld a note I am in the process of discovering. There’s a recommendation on the Manic Panic website to rinse with a dilute vinegar solution as a mordant after you rinse the color out of your hair, and this works very well, actually. If, like me, you do it over your stainless steel sink, be sure the mordant gets into the hair right around your face or else that will fade faster than anything else…

One of my 2021 bingo items is to watch movies from countries I haven’t been to, so looking for movie suggestions. I would prefer movies made in countries with cast from those countries, as opposed to a Hollywood movie with US actors set in another country. If that makes sense?

Also prefer things on Netflix/Hulu/Stan or at least movies that are easy to find and stream.

Countries I have travelled to Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Japan, China, Mongolia, Russia, Finland, Germany, UK, Austria, The Netherlands, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, France, Greece, Serbia, Turkey, Bolivia, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, USA, Mexico, Cuba, Zimbabwe

So basically does anyone have any movie suggestions from any country that isn’t on the above list?

If you haven’t seen Parasite yet, that’s an excellent movie & you didn’t list South Korea.

How long does it usually take, after you call your credit card and switch an annual-fee card to a different no-annual-fee card, for the annual fee, that you don’t want to pay and is the reason why you switched, to come off of your balance?

I just got the card in the mail. My online account shows both cards, still. If I activate it, does that trigger the fee being removed? I’ve never done this before, not sure how it works, hoping to avoid another phone call.

I havent seen that, thank you

hmm. Canada. Looking at the ‘top 150 movies’, I have watched remarkably few.

Summary

I remember enjoying the werewolf horror teenage girls coming of age Ginger Snaps.
The ‘original’ Megan Follows’ Anne of Green Gables is the one I imprinted on.

Margaret’s Museum has Helena Bonham-Carter as the main character. Fido has Carrie-Anne Moss as a 50s housewife & Billy Connolly as a domesticated zombie. Both are enjoyable despite their non-Canadian leads. My Big Fat Greek Wedding didn’t make the top 150 list despite a Canadian writer/main actress and being filmed in Toronto.

I think I watched “The Corporation”, which is a documentary
Brain Candy - I don’t know how kind time has been to this. Humour is challenging, but the question of overprescribing drugs is perhaps more relevant than ever in the opioid crisis?

Always meant to (ie very highly rated):
Fast Runner
Barbarian Invasions
Away from Her
Last Night
Red Violin
Sweet Hereafter
Thirty-Two Short Films About Glenn Gould

Too triggering to recommend:
Black Robe
Boys of St Vincent

The Sweater https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZyDsF-Gp3o
is the most Canadian 10 minute short.

I usually prefer a trial, and then after one-four weeks, I’m down to pay annually based on the value of the app but prefer a one-time fee. I just bought an ipad and bought a $15 app which is my highest amount without thinking/worrying about.

I have only two phone apps that are on subscription - my work out app with live classes ($19/month), and my data collection app ($6/month, but soon to be cancelled).

I pay for a LOT of application or web app subscriptions, all are to run my business.

Usually takes a billing cycle in my experience, it will appear as a “refund”. Did you ask for the annual fee to be refunded if it was already charged?

I did and the customer service person said it’d be refunded but I don’t remember what time frame she gave me.
I’ll give it a billing cycle and if it is still on there I will call, thank you!

South Korea has a pretty excellent movie industry. I recommend The Spy Gone North, which is the best spy movie I’ve ever seen.

Thanks @cube

There’s a movie I watched about a Saudi girl who gets a bicycle. I wasn’t as enthralled as the reviews I read but it was interesting and I’m glad I’ve seen it.

I was going to start listing movies starring Gael Garcia Bernal (a worthy genre) but the ones I’ve seen are set in Mexico and Chile.

Um. I think that list would still be a worthy addition to the forum’s knowledge base.
