I second sports teams if there are any near you – semi pro and pro teams are usually really great about these events in my city.

Sewing folks…
What are my options for repairing these sleeves (by hand, I don’t own/can’t access a machine)? :grimacing:

You mean the hem? That is a thumb-hole right?

Need:
Needle,
thread of similar color (or contrasting if you want it as a feature)
Scissors
Pins

Option 1: blanket stitch the edge - this makes little upside down interlocked “L’s” along the edge.

Option 2: whipstitch along the edge (this will stretch better).

Option 3: pin a hem in place, whipstitch

Non-sewing option - go to fabric store and ask for something to “seal” the yarn, threads. Essentially glue this down.

I would just hand stitch it like Gdogg says. If you want to get fancy you can look into visible mending. It’s usually hand stitching but it’s meant to be seen so it takes off the pressure of making it look like it never needed to be mended.

I also would do what Ckni said, visible mending, because you can do a fun contrasting color and also yeah takes the pressure off trying to make it perfect.

Thanks y’all! I’m not a fan of contrast/visible stitching, so I am going to try to blend it as best I can. I googled “blanket stitch” and I think I can do that! I guess just cut off some of the fraying part first?

If you know how to crochet - you could probably crochet over the frayed hem and enclose it.

I like this idea. A lot.

It just popped into my head! I had never thought of it or seen it done before.

What’s the difference between Thredup and Poshmark?

For ThredUp you mail your items in and they take care of listing and shipping. Poshmark is more like Ebay in that you list your own items and are responsible for packing/shipping yourself.

I should have been more clear  What’s the difference for a buyer?

The source of your shipment? I’ve bought thru Poshmark but not from ThredUp, so I can’t compare the experience. Sorry.

Ooh I can answer this!

On thred up, things tend to be cheaper but also harder to search for and you can’t ask any questions. Plus you can return and get free shipping if you buy a big enough bundle. They have a great set up where you can add to the bundle over the course of a week to get free shipping. I use it when I know I want an item like a navy crew sweater. I search for my size and filter by neckline and material and color and then sort price low to high and buy a few planning to return the ones that don’t work.

If I want something specific (ie j crew mixed tape cardigan, Hatley rain suit for toddler, etc) I search on Poshmark and ask lots of questions. I’ve done both a lot as a buyer so let me know if you have more questions!

That is helpful! Thanks! I’ve shopped but not bought on Thredup before, and it seemed to me that if I knew what brand I wanted it would be easier. Sounds like Poshmark is even more so. But the fact that you can ask questions would be really helpful, because it is impossible to tell whether clothes on Thredup have pockets.

Yes! I’ve been tricked by the pocket thing before! I think thredUP can be easier if you know the brand, but can also work as long as you have several parameters in mind. It’s very overwhelming if you just want to browse and I have no idea how to do that. I also like that you can save searches in thredUp so when things come up that match your search you can buy them if you are looking for something.

Poshmark is awesome if you want something pretty specific or want to confirm pockets.

Can OMD podcasts be downloaded to a phone and if so what’s your favorite phone app for that? I’ve only ever listened to them directly from my computer but my current commute listening is, ummm, episodes of TV shows with non-American accents, and it’s time for something more beneficial to my brain

ETA I just discovered it’s super easy to download episodes directly to my phone! :raised_hands:

Yay good job!
There are a ton of podcatcher type apps out there. I use… BeyondPod I think. No idea why or how I picked it. XD But it works.
