Well, I definitely wear boots in winter or mud, but they’re much less comfortable to walk in, especially my cp-affected side. I need to actually get a new pair this year.

Damn, that’s what I was afraid of. Add it to the long list of shit to eventually fix when we redo the bathroom entirely then.

Looks to me like some of the porcelain has chipped off - so will be a constant issue. I think I have seen products intended to seal these sorts of chips, but I don’t think the look very good or hold very long.

I think this being at the overflow might help them last longer. Not a high wear/stress spot. But I’ve never needed to do it. The original cast iron tub in our house is sealed behind one of those acrylic bath liner things.

There’s another one at the drain too though. :frowning:

Anyone come across good reads (either articles or books) that talk about what is supposed to come after ACAB burns the current police model to the ground? That’s where I get stuck with the current “end the police” cries. I hate the brutality, and partial reform probably isn’t enough, but what comes next? Even if they’re pie in the sky thought experiments, as long as they’re reasonably thought out I’d still be interested.

Oh. I’d probably just leave it then. Cast iron erodes very slowly so it will be ugly but still quite functional.

Angela Davis wrote Are prisons obsolete. It’s about the criminal justice syste., not specifically policing, but if you want some well written radical literature there’s that. I’d offer to mail you my copy bug it stays next to the Marx and Klein so people entering my living room know what kind of house this is.

I see cahoots referenced a lot. The model Eugene Oregon uses for mental health calls. And the CATC- the multnomah crisis center in Portland. Not a holistic model for defunding but could give you a start.

I asked this question in a different place and was recommended anything by her should be at the top of my list. I’ll add that specific one to my list, because I hate the prison-industrial complex already.

Apparently I should have posted in this thread instead of the memes thread. Funny Thing You Saw Today

@druidessie I haven’t read it yet, but I have a book called The End of Policing. It was free from the publisher, Verso Books–I think their model is ebooks are free or cheap, paper books are not.

I have narrow feet and La Sportivas are the BEST. I have a pair of hiking boots that are super lightweight for walking but very comfortable and supportive and have held up great.

This might be a really dumb question, but in my podcasts app (iOS) the most recent OMD episode is from June. Am I looking in the wrong place?

My shampoo is running out.
Anyone have a favorite bar shampoo place to buy from? I’d prefer not Lush, and would be happy to buy from a small maker etc.

I use Seagrape shampoo bars, although they’re local to me so I don’t have to pay shipping: https://seagrapeapothecary.com

Hmm, I wonder if those fragrances would trip my allergy or not. I don’t think so, as I always liked the old style Garnier Fructis citrus scent before they changed the formula.
