Well I mean there was a third one but it slowly died which is why I started hanging out on MMM more, and then here. You mean there’s other parts of the internet?

Suggestions for a good 15-inch laptop that’s not too expensive? Basically I need to host a Zoom meeting and use a browser at the same time without the entire system freezing.

I’m still resisting turning on the heat, but I just might break today. Outside temps at night are hitting mid 30s (f) and daytime mid 40s to low 50s. There’s quite a bit of condensation buildup on my windows - will turning the heat on help with that? Or am I looking at a long winter trying to prevent mold?

ETA: I turned on the heat. Target 60°^F, baseboard heating. It’s still hella cold in here and question still stands.

The hotter the temp, the more moisture the air can absorb before forming condensation.

Is the condensation on the inside or the outside? If it’s on the outside, no big deal. On the inside, the heat will help a lot. If you have a fan, you could run that on low for a few hours a day too, that helps a lot in damp conditions to keep the condensation from settling.

Yes, hotter should help.

Thanks folks. Condensation is inside. Broke down today and turned on the heat, will likely wait until tomorrow to turn it up if necessary.

Dehumidifier will help a lot.

Probably, but I’m not really in the position to acquire more appliances (limited space and money).

That’s fair!

For an AMAB wearing dresses that are generally loose and flowy styles, do you think bust measurement would be most critical for fit when looking at size charts and not wanting to do custom?

My bust is 48”
My widest point (belly button/roughly where high waistline is on AFAB): 53”
Waist (where masc clothes hit): 47”
Hips: 50”

So far I’ve been able to find a decent amount of off the rack stuff that fits, but I’m considering an order with eshakti and wondering if it’s worth paying the extra 12% for custom sizing (and then doing the extra measurements they want).

From what I’ve heard their customer service is fantastic and would be happy to help you figure out what sizes/ styles would work best for your measurements. I know in other brands, I have to adjust what measurement I order by and it can sometimes be a crapshoot.

Typically you need to fit the biggest measurement, but some will depend on the style/cut. For example, an empire style is more forgiving at the waist since it drapes down from just under the bust, whereas a sheath is fitted at the waist. Also, torso length could be a factor as it will impact where the “waist” actually falls on your body.

Flowing / floaty garments are less fitted / body hugging - so more leeway in fit. One thing I hate is the current preponderance of sleeveless dresses for all seasons. Fitting your arms if you can find something with sleeves could also be tricky. Caftans are very unstructured - some just a big rectangle folded in hat with a neck hole and minimal stitching along the sides.

I’m actually finding that I like sleeveless (but not thinner than very wide tank straps) or very short sleeves the most comfortable so far. I tend to get hot at typical indoor temps easily so my plan so far has been to focus on no long sleeve dresses and just add a neutral sweater on top if I get cold inside or when I go outside. So far it’s working okay

Or a long sleeve tee underneath. And, long sleeves will likely be too short anyway. They typically are too short for me. They seem to assume T. rex arms.

Actually, again quite interesting, I must have short arms for my size because I’m finding that femme sweaters are actually fitting me better in arm length than masc ones. And 3/4 sleeve are even more comfortable when doing things like dishes.

Interesting suggestion on the long sleeve shirt underneath, hadn’t thought of that.

Crossposted on my journal as I think more about this:

I think their prices are reasonable (though more expensive than what I’ve been buying so far), especially since I’ll have the 30% off first time order to balance the 12% up charge, that I’ll go custom size just to be safe. Had my girls help me take the rest of the measurements since my wife is still sleeping.
