If you would like more anecdotal stories, I can offer an absurdly straightforward compare and contrast: my team at [university] has regular meetings where we catch up on work but also make sure we’re all doing ok/check in on the new corgi, etc etc. Some teams I know have been doing virtual game sessions and such. I’ve felt amazingly supported the entire time of Covid and am very happy here.
My boyfriend works at [tech startup] where all socializing has disappeared with remote work, leading him to feel underappreciated, disconnected, and overworked to the point where he is contemplating looking for a new job…
Not a study but this has examples of big companies doing this and may help:
Ahhhh thank you everyone. All of this is very helpful.
I am not your parents’ age, but as a teen I tried looking up certain words in the dictionary that I had come across in the newspaper.
The dictionary failed me, which was probably for the best,
Summary
as it was news coverage of a local (and well known) serial rapist-murderer, and I wasn’t equipped to deal with the information I would have found.
Encyclopedias were also a Big Deal.
Anyone have experience using modern fabric dyes on fabrics?
I’m not finding a color I need to make a shirt out of the specific type of cotton I want, and am thinking I might try to dye from white or grey.
(I’m hunting for a nice garment-quality cotton batiste in sage green which appears not to exist)
My mom does it so I could ask her questions? I know you have to prep the fabric in one of a couple different specific chemicals to get it ready to take dye but that’s all I remember.
Experimenting to get the right color and saturation also takes time.
Thanks, more wondering if anyone has brand rec’s or “oh god don’t use that one” horror stories lol
I don’t do much dye work. I’ve made my own natural dyes but that’s about it
I learned a lot of those words from context by reading every word of every issue of the star for weeks on end. The one that never made sense to me and therefore I still dislike, is teal
My mom recommended in-person workshops to learn, and said a solid even color is the hardest thing to achieve
I keep reading that many of Trump’s mortgages and other debts are going to “come due” in the next 4 years. I have a mortgage, and I pay every month. Does Trump have different kinds of debt that are just due at the end of their term?
I think there’s something called like… A balloon loan or something where there’s only a tiny bit due until the end when you make a big “balloon” payment? I remember reading about it when I was doing a udemy class on real estate investment.
This article has some details on the loan specifics:
Commercial loans aren’t the same as consumer mortgages.my understanding: With his interest only loans, it sounds like he simply pays the interest on the borrowing, and owes a set balloon repayment at the end of term. Companies in good standing will often refinance these sorts of loans and reset the timers, consolidate them, stuff like that. If they can’t refinance though then the principal is due. That’s part of the bankruptcy spiral you can see happen to companies: you can float a lot of debt as long as you’re in good standing, but once stuff goes poorly you’re less able to float that debt. So not only can you not pay the interest as easily, you can’t keep floating along the principal. Bad news bears.
Oh, that makes it a lot clearer to me. Thanks!
Sis needs bra advice and I’m basically a “buy a bra where the size is XL and call it good enough” kind of girl. Where should I have her look? Should be:
- Reasonably priced
- Comfortable
- Believe in the cup size A (apparently she had a lot of trouble finding anything at walmart)
Willing to buy her some online if they accept returns.
ETA: Bonus if it is stretchy and will fit her longer while her body is changing with HRT.
I love these True and Co bras at Target. I was previously a sports bra only wearer, but needed some bras for when I wear nicer clothing, and these are just as comfy as a sports bra, but look nice and have shape without wires/being uncomfortable. They come in thick strap versions too.
ETA: for reference I am also an A cup.
Personally I like the lightly lined tshirt bras from target which are cheap and dependable and definitely come in an A and AA cup. I usually get the wired one but it looks like they have some no underwire options as well which will be more stretchy and forgiving of a changing body.
If she’s looking for something more fancy then I can’t help since I hate spending lots of money on bras
ETA for most of my life I’ve been somewhere between a 34A and 32B and these fit me well.
I used to be an A before I gained the Freshman 15, the mid-20’s 20 and the real-world 30. Now I’m a B. But I remember being in a Victoria’s secret at 16 wondering why the hell they didn’t have anything in my size.
