Do you have basement, crawl space, or a slab foundation?
I think it makes sense for cotton to be stored that way. In general the softer folds and reduced weight on the bottom things from KonMari are less stress on the fabric. And if you’re wearing all your things, then they’re ok to not get that musty storage thing that happens when you’re in dressers instead of hanging.
I find plastic really hard for anything I plan to wear on a regular basis, but maybe you have a different experience.
Why are you thinking of not hanging them any more if you’re thinking of wearing them more often?
It does sound like you’d be better off addressing that valley in particular. I don’t think gutters are all that expensive, but it’s really one of the house things I don’t have any experience with since we don’t have them.
My father put the gutters on the house I grew up in, and it didn’t look hard, but 1. He built the house and 2. I was five. He replaced them without difficulty more recently, at over 70 years ( him, not the gutters), but he’s unstoppable. I don’t know what the cost for just the gutters was and likely he doesn’t either as he did all the siding and the roof at the same time.
I had gutters done when I moved in 7 years ago. I think it’s 3 sections and was about $800. Obviously cheaper to do it yourself, but I didn’t have any of the right tools. Or the interest in doing it. Lol.
So I logged in to my PayPal account for the first time in forever, and they want me to change over to something called PayPal cash in order to accept the money I’ve earned on prolific. Bath PayPal cash and accepting money are new to me- anybody know what’s up with that?
You can either send the money from Prolific straight to your bank account or you can set up PayPal Cash which is like a PayPal bank account. I ended up setting it up because I treat my Prolific money as an off budget charity account and just sent it straight out again from PayPal, and now I don’t have to mess around with multiple transfers.
Prolific does send the money to your PayPal Cash account in GBP which means you have to do an extra currency exchange step but its instantaneous.
Do you know why the change to PayPal cash? My profile tells me I’ve been using PayPal since 2000, but it seems to want all my ID and bank account info again before I can even access the money I already had there.
No, I didn’t really understand how to use PayPal before this year, sorry.
They are pushing people to open a banking account. I have gotten several emails about it offering entry into a prize drawing.
Well that sucks. I can’t use it to send money, can’t even accept my money without I don’t think.
Without going into too many details, I was mailed a letter from a third-party organization who is administering a benefits program for my state’s employees. Along with my letter, there were two pages containing someone else’s personal information (including health information) sent by mistake. I am upset for this unknown person and also wary of who may have received my information. Who would you call to report this? The third-party administrator? The state program? The affected person (whose contact information I now have)? Should I return the information to the third-party admin organization? Or keep it as proof that they sent confidential information to the wrong person? I am just full of ugh at this whole situation.
I would keep as proof for the moment and look into how to report a HIPAA breach.
Does your state have an ombudsman? That might not be the right place to report it but they will know where you should go.
Does anyone have a Lowe’s 10% off coupon? That they are not going to use?
I used to get those coupons all the time in the mail, but now that I’m actually doing a bunch of home-improvement projects I haven’t gotten one in like a year
Thanks, @Illathrael and @smacky, for your suggestions. I’ve filed a complaint for a HIPAA breach with Office of Civil Rights in Health and Human Services. I’ll look into the ombudsman options and am also going to contact the State Agency who is using the provider.
For US folks with mat leave in their jobs, how long to you have to be at your job before you a) get any mat leave and b) are compensated in some way during mat leave? Trying to figure out when my “must change jobs if going to change jobs” date is in relation to my projected ttc date.
(note - I know most dudes aren’t gonna get mat leave but if you would be willing to check your employee handbook I would appreciate it. Just trying to get a general idea.)
Fmla guarantees you 6 weeks of unpaid leave once you’ve worked somewhere for a year and the company has over 50 employees.
My work offers up to 6 months parental leave, but you have to pay for it out of your own accumulated vacation/sick time. You do have the option of borrowing future leave to use and it has to be paid back within 3 years. Large state university
Husband’s job back when we were thinking of kids offered 3 weeks paid paternity leave. National corporate veterinary chain.
That’s a company by company thing I think. My wife’s company gives mat leave benefits right away, it’s part of the group short term disability you’re signed up for on day 1 of onboarding, which pays out 6 weeks at 80% IIRC. She used her mat leave only a couple months into getting hired
My company does this as well, it’s the closest thing they have to actual “maternity leave” along with letting people roll over up to two weeks of vacation if they haven’t used it by the end of the year (although new people start with only two weeks vacation I think along with 180 hours sick, sick time does not increase with seniority)
So it sounds like I have about 9 months to get a new job. Cool, that’s plenty of time
