I found a bottle of cbd oil from spring 2019. It’s been in mr. Elle’s car almost a year since I couldn’t use it (so from +30–30) is it worth saving?
I don’t think so, but it probably won’t hurt to try it. Typically if stored properly (cool, dark, dry) it will last a year or more, but I think a car might get too warm.
If you made a lavender syrup then you could put it in a lot of things? Lemonade, Italian soda-type drinks, ice cream! Or baked goods. Cocktails!
Recommendations for burgundy hair dye? I want a deep red-wine color, nothing bright. I plan to bleach a few streaks in my hair and do an overall burgundy dye, so I’ll have some very bright wine streaks and the rest will be over my natural hair color (medium-dark brown, more red-gold undertone than blue).
Are you looking for box dye or something a little fancier?
I’m not very particular. If there’s less-shitty-for-you variants, that’d be nice, but I don’t plan on having burgundy hair forever and I don’t have any sensitivities to dyes that I know of. I’ve been thinking about looking into burgundy hennas.
My mom has always warned me away from using henna dyes because they interact really poorly with more conventional dyes so you can’t just dye over hair that has been hennaed. This might be totally not true, but figured I’d pass along the warning.
I’ve had good burgundy results with Revlon color silk 48, leans slightly more brown than purple. Garnier Nutrisse R3 gave me a good reddish burgundy colour, but faded really quick. I’ve got l’oreal feria fuchsia-cha in my hair now and it is more purple than red, but it’s really PURPLE in the sun. Feria v48 might work well for a warmer purple red.
It sounds like our natural colours are similar, although mine might be a bit darker. If you have a photo of what shade you have in mind, I can cross reference it with the dyes I’ve tried. I have a running spreadsheet of dyes I try because they keep changing the models and then I don’t remember if it’s one I liked or one to avoid.
I haven’t done burgundy henna, but I’ve done red henna over brown almost black hair and I loved it. Fire in sunlight, but often people didn’t know I’d died. And my 3 greys went copper. I knew I didn’t want to dye another dye on it, and it’s now 18 months since the last henna. I want to do it again, but…later
You know those fabric bags that sheet sets come in sometimes? Can they be upcycled into anything or used for storage or something? I have three and I can’t seem to just put them into the trash. Do I need to just put them in the trash/dispose of them some other way?
Do you have any nice purses or shoes that you don’t wear often but want to keep clean (dust-free)?
Store winter scarves, hats, gloves?
Let little kid paint on them and they are gift bags. Skip the paint and they are grown up gift bags
I use bags like that for bulk bin bags, or produce bags, after washing a few times. They aren’t like perfect mesh+breathable like the ones you buy, but anything can be a produce bag if you want it to be. Perfect for things like apples+oranges, etc that are not super wet when you buy them.
I’ll also keep them around for if I’m traveling, and want to have say like my socks+underwear in a small bag, then bottoms in another bag, tops in another, etc…so I use bags to keep things organized inside my giant duffel bag.
Yes! I was going to say I bring them on trips to put my dirty clothes in to keep them separate in my suitcase. My brother uses them as toiletry bags.
I’ve been using mine as delicates bags when I toss my cloth masks in the was with the rest of my laundry.
IDK if you still need a plan @anomalily but I have very thick black body hair too, when I’ve gone a long time I:
-
Scissor clip. I have small silver scissors with blunted ends (so you can’t stab yourself), Clip the hair until it’s about 1/4 inch long.
-
Exfoliate, a lot.
-
Rinse.
-
Shave, and have several blades ready to swap out as after a long dormant stretch you’ll dull the blades really fast.
My favorite shave stuff is Shave Secret oil, which looks super scammy but for real works. I also use this type of razor:
I’ve tried those little shaver things and nair and stuff with zero success, I think I’m like, too swarthy, lol. I need serious shit. The other good options are waxing and sugaring, neither of which I’d attempt if you’ve never done it an have a lot to remove. I like sugaring more than waxing in general but it takes longer.
This was so helpful!!! Yea I have not been motivated enough to try to remove it yet…
I can’t do either anyway because of my medication, only shaving is allowed or nair.
I use this stuff:

I like the mahogany witch is more purplish red, than burgundy, which is more reddish purple (it’s pretty purple). (At least, I think that’s right.)
Yeah, I’ve heard the same. I don’t usually dye over my hair colors with different dyes, but it’s a thing to keep in mind – it does reduce the future options! (I looked it up and apparently some henna mixes have metallic salts added that, uh, smoke when combined with conventional dyes – yikes.)
Thank you for the info, especially on the fading/shades. I think our natural colors are probably pretty similar. Mine is generally a dark brown, although it sun-bleaches a little lighter. I’m going to keep pondering shades and options and might take you up on the offer about the dye spreadsheet.
Thanks for the rec! I’ll check it out.
+1 for Shave Secret oil. I used to get rashes and now nothing, plus my legs are so soft after shaving with it.
