This is good to know!! I hate that it’s some sort of like “well at least you TRIED to conform to stupid societal expectations.”

@katscratch I think it is fine based on googling, it has to do with skin thinness: “The thing about waxing is that it not only removes hair, but also takes old skin cells along with it. But if you’re using tretinoin, you won’t have that layer of old skin cells, only the fresh new ones. So this means that waxing can result in skin that is irritated, red, and painful, giving a “rug-burn” appearance.”

I actually don’t use tret on my underarms, but I do use it along my back and chest, and the skin is all connected so you’re not supposed to wax under there. But shaving is safe, as is other forms of hair removal that don’t remove skin (threading, etc)

For $3 that seems worth a shot.

Ohhh this makes sense. When I shave I use a safety razor with a new blade and definitely am removing skin cells. Then my hair is so thick it bumps up against skin when it regrows and is so itchy I want to die for a good 24 hours, no matter how much exfoliation etc etc I’ve tried over the years.

I think this is exactly it. I’ve clearly appeased the misguided Hygiene Patrol. I’ve also started noticing a lot more publicity photos of womxn with dark shadows that aren’t photoshopped. It’s reality that anyone with dark hair has a shadow, in my beach and locker room experience haha.

THIS DRIVES ME SO CRAZY SO SO CRAZY BECAUSE IT HAS 0 TO DO WITH HYGIENE. I am ANGRY this has been pushed an idea people believe. In fact, removing body hair is less healthy for your skin and body in most circumstances because you have natural ecosystems of microbes in your underarm hair that support its health.

The fact that Aerie does no-photoshop now, and you can see that models have stretch marks and dark shadows under their arms is <3 <3 <3

Oh TOTALLY. My skin is so much happier when I don’t remove hair at all but I am bothered by the way my facial hair holds onto sweat and by the way my calf hair pokes leggings (it’s a tactile nightmare to me) so I go through cycles. Speaking of hygiene falsehoods don’t ever get me started on circumcision and the massive discrepancy in rates between the PNW and the Midwest that has nothing to do with medical recommendations and everything to do with Medicare.

I liked browsing Aerie’s site a lot! I have a cart open in a tab on my phone, ha.

Ugh, I have gotten eczema on my lower legs every winter since I was young. These past two winters, I stopped shaving my legs, and surprise! No eczema. It’s like constantly irritating my skin by shaving wasn’t the best idea?!

I bought $230 of aerie bras I am gonna try on and mostly return…considering filming a try on video and trying to decide if I should do that and shave before…

This is an area that I really want to understand better but find myself extremely squicked learning about. Especially the religious expectations ≠ “medical recommendations”.

Also I have never in my life seen an IRL uncircumcised penis. And I have seen a not-unsubstantial # of peni

I wouldn’t have researched it as much if the rates weren’t drastically different between where my kiddo was born and where I live now. I refresh the data in my memory every couple years because I won’t participate in them at work.

In relation to my own life, foreskin is FUN.

But…should I really open myself up for commentary on my armpits on the internet. The funniest thing is I have 0 feelings about my boobs being on the internet (obvs that paid my bills for awhile) but I just don’t want to deal with the “ur disgusting” comments or possible flooding by fetish people. But maybe they would sub to my channel and up my numbers lol :joy:

male organs

my feelings about all penis related things are ugh. i like the people attached to them but ugh to the organ itself.

I have something like this that i use to remove whatever hair I’m not into.

It doesn’t go right next to the skin so no ingrown hairs. It’s basically like a little toothbrush that cuts hair.

Given some of the spoilered conversation I read the brand name of that product as phallus and was very confused that it went on to be about a trimmer for women. Seems like a very niche product!

I know!

Mine is not that brand. I found it in a grocery store for cheap and tried it out, liked it. Now my teenager has stolen it because it’s easier than real shaving.

I have a hard time not telling him the thing he’s using on his face was bought for my crotch. But I have kept quiet so far. I’m so mature!

I discovered that my husband’s electric shaver is much easier for me to use on my legs/pits than trying to maneuver a razor so I’ve kinda commandeered it. I also tend to not worry so much about my body hair. My eyebrows are done to perfection, but my legs/pits almost always sport some stubble at least. Too lazy for otherwise.

One day he will realize what part of the store I got it from, and that none of the shaving stuff in that aisle is blue…

Eek!

I also have this experience, anomalily. I can go numerous days without shaving and have a significant stubble build up (and my body hair is a dark ash brown and I’m pale, it’s not as thick as yours but it’s very visible). As long as it’s clearly stubble, I’ve never once gotten a comment. It’s 100% appeasing the Female Grooming Patrol.

My elbow/knee pads I got secondhand are clearly not a size that will work for me long-term. The wrist guards are probably fine.

I’ve noticed that my weight exceeds the weight ranges recommended for the large sizes of elbow and knee pads. Where can I find knee pads and elbow pads I can feel more confident will fit me? Without paying through the nose preferably?
