Update: finally got our CSA email. The greens are “dragons tongue greens”, which I looked up and are a type of mustard green. Thank you all!

What are the strategies you use when you get Massively Up In Your Head about something because it’s important to you and so you put hella pressure on yourself and then get stuck?

Because I need all of themmmmmm

(already working on trying to break the thing at hand – which is a creative project – into small chunks and trying to make small achievable goals instead of Finish The Big Project, but aaaaaah)

I’m sure you do this, but I like to free-write. For 10 mins only I have to write non-stop, ideally about the topic, but if I can’t think of anything I just write what comes to mind, even if it’s about glorious kittens snuggling in fuzzy blankets. For me it lowers the barrier to entry even more than breaking something into small chunks.

I move my body. A lot. Lots of walks.

I do something else hard but that has definite steps, then come back to the other thing

@diapasoun I do this same thing. Easy checklist task. break it down, get a win, and then try again at the other task.

Is there any health reason not to feed my cat grilled chicken from a restaurant as a small treat? This would be instead of the bit of wet food she gets each day. She really likes it!

If it’s just plain grilled chicken it’s not bad. If it’s greasy or has a lot of spices it could be less great.

My main worries would be about the sodium content and the cooking oil used. Cats can have all sorts of weird kidney and gallbladder stuff. Small treats for a healthy adult but not senior cat, I wouldn’t personally worry. But old or young, and any health conditions, I would personally not give it.

Thanks! She’s 6 and healthy. It would be a super rare treat, it was in my take out meal today so I gave her like a teaspoon of it. I have a couple more days worth of it saved but wouldn’t give her more if its bad for her. She probably won’t have it again for a long time, but I thought she would like a special treat instead of the wet food she gets once a day as a small treat.

Hi friends.
VOTING QUESTION
I know of several good websites that allow folks to search information on a local candidate and even compare side-by-side (but still down for recommendations) but I am looking for something like a TEXT LINE where folks can text or even call to get info on a candidate.

longer explanation

I am working with another local small business who has set up a voter station in their very busy corner store. For my part, I am preparing “voter readiness packets” which will simply be a few stamps and a professionally printed postcard with quick and easy-to-understand ways that people can research candidates. I want to list one of each: Website, Call, Text.

Oh heckzies. There’s obvious websites like Ballotpedia, but I don’t know any text lines. The closest I can come to is that vote.org has an election reminder thing where they’ll send you an email or text with reminders about your upcoming elections.

Wow. Huh. I’ll keep trying to research this.
This seems very important in areas where some folks do not have the internet at home and very likely don’t have an unlimited data plan (or have a shitty plan like mine which is ‘unlimited’ but slows down to nonfunctional speeds (like 11 minutes to load a page)). I think people don’t realize how many areas like this exist. Those people want to vote too. : /

Yeah, for sure. Also the calling option or some other audio option seems like it would be so important for anyone who can’t see well!

You would think that responses could be automated, too. Like, you text with a candidate name, it says “okay, text back with an issue” and then you text something like “abortion” or “voter rights” and it texts back with the candidate’s stance on those things. Or similar for a phone call. It doesn’t have to be staffed!

Ah, but then the candidate would have to have a crystal clear stance on the issue, vs. a nuanced vague noncommital position.

Still too specific

There are actually already tons of guides out there like this that list short bits of info regarding particular issues – I found one for JJ’s city, actually. So the info is out there! just not in text/call form. When candidates don’t want to take a stand on something, or actually do have a nuanced stance, they often just don’t submit info for that issue.

Yes, they definitely avoid statements on some issues. Which, if they feel they are not very well informed, they should hold off to do research.

I have two packs of lights originally purchased to use for outside lighting/decor with a gazebo/pergola that no longer exists.

One set of 10 white lights & one set is 10 multi-colored in the pastel family:

Question: I’m wondering if these are good for inside decorating for me (adult dude with dog), and, if so, how/where.

I’m generally bad at design and have no eye for things. I feel like this is probably best for a child’s room or a dorm room and would likely be out of place in my home. Also, the pastel colors don’t work with my “main” room or office/guest room, but would be fine in my own bedroom (white/navy, sometimes use mint-colored duvet cover). But I’d be happy if I could use any of it as I’m finally decorating my home.

Halp.

Thx. I guess I could print updated issue forms but that seems more likely to waste ink and create paper trash then actually inform people versus a text system, I wonder why this doesn’t exist yet…?

Edit: sorry I basically just keep saying the same thing and having the same complaint… and for some reason addressing you  HEAR ME COMPLAIN PLZ

Sorrry!
