We just shower ours, but my folks used a sterilite/Rubbermaid tub for us when we were kids :joy:

We shower also, but when we didn’t feel like doing that, we used the baby tub until kid #1 was well over 1.5 years old. She was too big but it was fine.

I was inspired by y’all and put Baby Spore in our party drinks tub this afternoon. It was a sweltering 94F today so he got to cool down, smack the water with his hands, and get cleaned up all at the same time. Perfect fit .

Now for a question: at our usual 5pm feed he decided to (1) CHOMP on my nipples and (2) latch for about 10 seconds before babbling, kicking around, and flirting with everyone around him. After 3-4 tries on each side I gave up. I tried again right before bedtime, and again with the teeth. I yelped audibly, stuck my finger in his mouth to break the latch, and removed my nipple. We’ve been giving him more solids lately, and today’s small flakes of fish and chicken required some chewing. I wonder if he’s just learned that those teeth (which popped out a few weeks ago) are to be used whenever eating.

Tonight I’m going to pump just to keep the milk going. I’ll see if he calms down in the morning and can do his usual feed. If he keeps this up, is he telling me we’re done breastfeeding?

In other fun news, he started crying at 3am last night because he had somehow pulled himself to sitting, but now what?

Nah, kids just bite sometimes. Self weaning is generally gradual refusal and shortening feeds. Versus a strike. I found this article helpful during strikes: Do babies under 12 months self-wean? - KellyMom.com

Baby gums are plenty hard enough for anything a baby needs to chew, but I think new teeth feel funny and do lead to more biting.

Pull him in to the breast when he bites, so that he has to unlatch. (My instinct was always to drop the baby and scream!)

When do I get sleep?

Ooh good trick! I’ll have to give it a try. He was much less wild this morning, phew. A few more nibbles than usual but settled down pretty quickly.

When you leave your partner on duty for the night and disappear into a separate room with the white noise machine on loud.

Sorry - we’re still struggling with sleep over here as well, despite all the books and classes and sleep training. Wishing you well!

Pipsqueak went through a biting phase a couple weeks ago that lasted about 5 days off and on. Thankfully it has stopped! My mom told me to pull her into the breast too but it hurts so badly that I never remembered bro react appropriately (i.e. don’t react audibly etc ) and she still got over it. Hopefully Spore does too!

@Sunflower (I think? Whoever was asking about travel tips?) I can’t rave enough about the $40, 7lb cosco scenera next. We have a Zoe stroller which I love, and we have used the latch straps to wrap around the stroller and grab each other and cinch down in a way that made us comfortable strapping him into car seat into stroller which was awesome when I solo traveled with him when he was too big to just baby wear. We took a long flight at about 6 months and lucked into a seat in one direction and it was amazing. After many trips in the first couple years, my rule is no flights over 7 hrs without buying a seat for any kid. No flights over 4 hrs for a kid over 6 months without a seat. By 12 months my kid needs a seat.

Honestly it’s so much safer and easier with a seat that I am not sure we will travel with a lap baby if we have another, but I did find it pretty easy at 2 months and for shorter flights until about 8 months.

@AnneBeddingfeld the blow up duck did Not work well for our kid, who it turned out needed a lot more support. We got a toddler bath that was quite large with a toddler and infant size and he used it until age 2 when he sort of outgrew it. He still needs the support so now one of us always sits with him. But if your kiddo can bathe independently, what about this? https://babydam.com/product/the-original-bathwater-barrier/

New solution! I just didn’t wake up today. So he took the kid down for breakfast, then I got up at ten, nursed and napped. Had lunch, slept, woke up, nurses and napped, and by 8pm I was functional for dinner, bath and bedtime and several more rounds of nurse and nap. I’m not sure what my kid did today or who watched him, but I super needed it

I have not bought a new bathtub because, new development - toddler refuses to bathe!!

Our new routine (only done every other day), is for him to stand in the shower leaning on my legs (while I’m sitting on the edge of the bathtub, and fuss while I try to rinse him off. He is very upset when I wash his hair, which - I get! It’s not fun to have water in your face! What do I do?

He gets very sweaty and sunscreen-y so I really don’t want to reduce washing even further. Help!

How much play is coming into it? There are bathtub crayons, you can do messy play in there as you get clean, etc. When in doubt I try to add some fun for distraction.

Latte really likes her Boon Pipes for the shower, and we let her rearrange all the soaps and shampoos.

I’ve heard good things about these: Shower Bath Cap

Our kid has always hated baths (the support thing and also now a sensory thing). We rotate bubbles,

color baths, lego baths, and lots of toys. I need to add in some new toys so we might try out the Boon Pipes and I also recently saw some bath soap finger paint that looks interesting. He is currently in a hates baths until he’s been in it for 15 minutes and then does Not want to get out phase so that’s fun.

Do you have a handheld shower attachment or even a shampoo rinsing cup? That might help you to wash his hair with less water in his eyes? I haven’t tried showers because our kiddo has curly hair and we spent 30 minutes gently detangling and I can’t figure out how to do that in the shower, but we sometimes hold a washcloth over his eyes for rinsing and it seems to help. Good luck!

That was me, thanks for all the tips. Our kid is actually starting to get a little wide for his infant car seat and I’ve been eyeing convertible car seats. The Cosco one looks great.

A sticker on the ceiling still helps us if we need to remind Kiddo to look up.

Genius!

Our kiddo has some hearing & communications issues so I’ll need to think about how we teach the looking up, but maybe I’ll just have to find an amazing something to put on the ceiling.

I used to use a very similar product when I was a small child. We used a normal shower cap for Duckling to get used to being in the shower.

Ooh I just found these online the other day and was wondering if they were any good! They look like fun.
