Damnit! Already dealt with this recall and now have to do it again. Wish they had done the battery to begin with. Thanks for the heads up.

Is there a 2yo sleep regression? While he’s had this stomach flu we’ve been rocking him at bedtime and I think he got used to that, he’s also waking in the middle of the night which he hasn’t done since he was small small small. We are losing it

Sleep for us has been full of starts and setbacks. Sickness can definitely trigger a regression, travel can trigger a regression, random age related growth can trigger a regression.

I would assume it’s the after effects of sickness and that things will return to normal after 2-3 days if you reinforce the old normal.

Sorry, it sucks in the meantime though!

Yes, and often caused by molars.

B1’s class has 1ECE and 1 teacher who just moved into the room and he will have seen for max 5 days by Christmas- equal gifts, easyish

B2’s class is supposed to have 3ECEs, but one was promoted and is not replaced. So they have 2 FT and then rotate between 3 others! Those 5 gifts still need to be equal or not a huge difference, don’t they?

IDK. Larva has one main teacher and a teaching assistant, who is also the assistant in her wrap around program with another lead teacher. Then she has art, music, gym (with three gym teachers!!), library, and guidance (which I have no idea what that is), and the child seems to be on friendly terms with half of the lunchroom attendants and school admin.

The three people she sees every day are maybe (if I can work up the planning and brainpower) getting an equal sized gift, plus I know the beverage preference of her main teacher, so throwing in an extra Dr. Pepper. The rest is too many for me to handle and I honestly have no idea how to get even a handful of gifts into teacher hands when I only see them sporadically and I’m not sure if Larva would make a reliable postie.

In short, this shit is too hard.

How long ago did the rotation start? But I’m inclined to be not equal.

One idea I’ve been toying with is a classroom gift basket with 5 of somethings and not 5 of others? Then they can fight it out? But Larvae’s sound split all over the building.

@meerkat B2’s teachers have been rotating since September one of the 3 on rotation was FT in his class in the summer, one of the 3 in the rotation was FT with my kids from Oct 2022 when B1 started to this fall when she got promoted. The 3rd I couldn’t pick out of a line up.

B1’s main teacher quit and the new teacher should be until the end of the year :woman_shrugging:t2:

Also, I’d love to be able to just buy classroom shit off a wishlist or something (which her daycare did one year and it was aces to be able to do).

Alternatively, if the home-school organization did something to be able to give to all the other teachers she sees throughout the week instead of me trying to figure out who they are based on the 4yo’s pronunciation, that would be aces (maybe they do, will have to check that out).

Also, also, I’m pretty sure I never once gave any present to any teacher in my life from K through college and that’s okay too.

And finally, I get heartfelt thank you notes that I keep forever or thank you messages on final exams from maybe 5-10% of my college students, and a super thoughtful gift that goes on my display shelf from maybe 1% of students and it’s all fine. I think neither more nor less of them for doing or not doing anything. And this is probably college-specific, but if a student gave me money for Christmas I’d be weirded out TBH. If I get anything it’s food or beverage or art at the end of a semester, and that’s much more comfortable.

In elementary we gave home made cards and maybe a literal apple or single home made cookie. Last year for nursery school I did baking and a single ornament/teacher out of a multi pack. This year the gift bags will be a few bought things and some baking. I should re-ask for the jk supply list.

Theory: Do kids run colder as they stretch out into lanky 4yos than 2yos? Spore has been complaining of being cold a lot this winter when it was never an issue for him before - he used to constantly peel off his coats.

Is that a common thing since they get lanky and lose insulation between these ages? Or just a particular thing with this child?

It could also be that I, oops, bought an inadequate winter jacket for him because he asked for his current favorite color, red. Just made an offer on a Poshmark down parka (seller is from Detroit which should bode well for warmth, right? I also read reviews) and bought a Reima snowsuit on sale for our upstate NY winter trip, which can hopefully be a hand me down and then resold.

Currently planning nothing new for TR, who has a good parka and some fleece lined pants and seems happy to be outside.

How do people sell higher prices used kids items? Do I have to make a Facebook account after 15 years of not being on Facebook?

We have a few things that are in really good condition. The 2nd hand store would only give me 15-20% of the original price and If like to make a little more money if possible, as well as make sure they are actually used again!

  • Thule rear rack mounted bike seat (Pipsqueak isn’t quite at the weight limit but she’s too heavy for me to feel in control of the bike anymore)
  • osprey hiking carrier
  • radio flyer push wagon with extra storage

We usually give things away to people in our community who would use them either by asking around or the buy-nothing app but the app has been so glitchy and the people we know with younger kids aren’t really outdoors all the time types lol.

I use both Facebook Marketplace and eBay. Facebook for bulkier things like kid seats, learning towers, etc. I mostly just post regular listings on Marketplace, but for kid bike stuff we have a friendly local group called “Kidical Mass” where people price reasonably and stuff sells pretty quickly. Might be worth checking if you have a local option.

I tend to use eBay for clothing, etc. A nice thing about eBay is that your seasons don’t have to match up. Today I shipped a wool suit to Maine and a 0.5 TOG sleep sack to Florida.

I have also had success with Nextdoor but of course that’s also social media.

Some places have big semiannual consignment sales that let you keep more of the value than the stores do, but they are a lot more work for the parent.

Any advice/encouragement welcome for dealing with tantrums. I know they are developmentally appropriate for age 2 but it sucks when the like, one hour a day we get (that isn’t 4:30am) with him is tantrum town :frowning:
