Yeah I’ve been trying to encourage some applesauce or prunes in hopes that poo will continue.

She often likes avocados so I’m going to try offering that first today but if she doesn’t want it cheese it is.

I’ve had much better luck with her consuming large amounts of kefir and the feeding Littles constipation smoothies than straight prune puree, YMMV. The consto smoothie is great because I make one batch, freeze it in muffin tins, then transfer to a ziplock and have smoothie servings for ages for her ready to thaw. Has like a 90% success rate of a poo within 5 hours for my very prone to consto second kiddo.

What kind of mood is he in at 4am? Does he ever sleep in til 6am or so anymore and what are the conditions when that happens?

We also had a period of 4am wakeups around age 1.5-2 for Spore. For a while we did a mix of coping mechanisms:

  • walks + coffee shop (there’s one that opens at 6 exactly)
  • bringing him on a workout (if we’re gonna be awake, might as well get)
  • videos in bed
  • plopping him in car and driving around until he fell asleep again (February 4am wake ups were the worst)

Key thing was alternating parents so that we each got to sleep in every other day. And leaving the house if he got noisy/restless.

When Spore was about 2 and 2 months, we introduced the Hatch clock. It stayed off until a green light came on. Being a rules-follower it actually clicked after a couple weeks! It all depends on the kid, but Ravioli might be close to old enough now to give that a shot?

Tangent/rant -

We had kefir recommended to us but when I went to the store every damn type on the shelf was fat free. So many dairy things are fat free by default, I hate it.

He’s in a pretty good mood at 4 thankfully. He hasn’t slept til 6 since he was at my parents house last Friday night. They had to wake him up at 7:30 on Saturday. I think he was starting to get sick around then.

I don’t feel super safe walking alone with him at 4am (I would if it was light out maybe) but I could consider that closer to 6!

Eastern European store? Here they have full fat everything and corn puffs that are addictive like plain cheesies and good jam and butter

Do you have Natural Grocers out there? They carry some awesome grass fed full fat brands. Maple Hill is the one we’ve been getting lately.

I’ve never heard of that chain so I’m going to go with no. My options are Aldi, Walmart, and Publix.

Does anyone have a wobble board?

I’m (obviously) Christmas shopping, and I’m trying to find some active indoor toys. We just got Nuggets a few months ago, and our kids use them all the time (most recently for making our stairs into a slide), so I’m trying to expand that sort of activity in a low-clutter way. Wobble boards look like something my kids would enjoy, but I don’t personally know anyone who has one.

We had a wobble board and my kids didn’t use it at all. I’ve been seeing ads for a gi board that I’m tempted by, but I’m worried that just like the wobble board it won’t get any use.

We have one and I’d say it gets moderate use, on par with the pickler triangle. It can be fun to do a little ramp, and sometimes she’s used it as a car, bridge and tunnel, but it definitely doesn’t get tons and tons of use. If you have a high sensory seeking kid that likes rotation in particular, though it might get more use

We got a giboard in October after having a similar debate for over a year. Pipsqueak loves the wobble boards at school but I wasn’t sure about using it at home.

I was sure that my spouse and I would hop on the giboard so it wasn’t a total waste of Pipsqueak didn’t use it.

So far it’s been a pretty good imaginative play piece. She does use it as intended (against a wall or with a hiking pole for stability), but yesterday it was a boat/pirate ship and sometimes it’s a cradle. Spouse and I definitely stand on it here and there throughout the day because it’s in the living room/play area. Pipsqueak gets on it when she sees us on it because “it’s hers”.

My parents have one (more?) for my dad. All the grandkids use it there but I doubt any would use it at home. Maybe I’ll borrow it and see. Most of the stuff B1 needs to use he uses as sensort input and the gross motor is incidental if any. I think we’re going for mini trampoline next since I know I’ll use it.

Ooh, trampoline! My 8 year old is so sad he can’t use the little one we have anymore. It’s one of the ones with the 50lb weight limit and he definitely just makes a big divot now.

I’m hearing that balance boards are kind of meh, haha, very good to know. Thanks!

Parents of tall, skinny kids - pls help. Meowlet is 6 years old tall, but 4-5year old waist size. Not a problem in summer, but how do you handle pants?

I get slim fit (lots of cat and Jack from target), and the kind with the inside button adjustment, especially for jeans, usually on the tightest notch. I think h&m, gap and old navy run slim and have slim fit as well for the extra slim kiddos like ours.

Do you get these online? I’m somehow missing where to find them lol

Don’t sleep on girls leggings. A friends boy does lots of cat and Jack girls Jean leggings since literally everything falls off his skinny little booty.

Same body type here and we mostly shop Old Navy and “Wonder Nation” which is from Walmart. Only stretchy pants, no jeans or chinos but that’s also a sensory problem so I haven’t bothered to find a brand that fits.
