What is current bedtime and current evening food?

Bedtime is 7:30. Evening food is a rotation of fish sticks, chicken nuggets, pizza, or Mac n cheese lol embarrassing. Fruit. Yogurt pouch. Milk. There is a vegetable on the plate until it is thrown on the ground

Lol! I was thinking volume eaten and timing. NO judging. But also I am out of chicken fingers, hotdogs and pasta so tonight my kids will eat rice

Ravioli cares not for rice

Dinner time 6/630. Probably like…4-5 fish sticks or nuggets. Usually the whole Mac n cheese cup. He has never been a big dinner eater unfortunately

Is the yogurt a high fat yogurt? if not, can it be swapped for one? (Not sure what brands you have, our Dr recommended high fat fruit on the bottom Astro Yogurt for J2 years and years ago)

or move the yogurt later, to right before bed?

(I’m thinking fill up the tummy)

(In J2’s case it was because he despised all sources of protein except yogurt, so the Dr said to just lean into it and make sure it was high fat. She also suggested Cottage cheese mixed with fruit)

That exact yogurt is my kids’ main source of nutrition many days. It’s also one of the lowest sugar flavoured yogurts

@noodle can you add more foods? How do you feel about ravi eating cheerios on the floor and watching 2h of peppa pig while you rest? Or a big glass of 4am milk?

If nap is over 2h or ends past 3, I’d consider a half hour later bedtime. Unless he seems overtired leading to bedtime. And maybe more exercise? I HATE that everyone says my kids need more exercise because I personally do not want more exercise.

I think you do great things

Good call on checking fat content, I was getting a kind with veggies blended in but I’ll see what we’ve got. Not sure that brand is sold here but I’m sure something comparable is!

Is it a problem that my kid won’t eat any bagel or toast I give her for breakfast and instead just eats like, cream cheese and heavy cream for breakfast? Like a LOT of cream cheese. It’s insane.

(she will eat grains if it is like a bagel that is mine or a sandwich that is mine or pasta or rice but not a bread intended for her meal)

I’m not an expert but I think that’s okay! My kiddo has gone through lots of phases and sometimes he wants a bagel and sometimes he doesn’t. I will say now that he has molars it seems like he is more okay with carbs. I think it’s hard to chew a bagel without teeth.

I figure it’s my job to offer options. Also my food is always >>>> his food. Sometimes I ask him for a bite and he gives me one then eats more on his own.

x-posted from my journal.

Tonight is the preschool and kindergarten info night at the girls school. I already know we are sending D1 there for kindergarten next year, so do I have to go? Will I actually learn useful things? It’s at 5 and DH is planning to leave school a little early so he will be home in time for me to go, but I don’t know if I want to. Her teachers have also let me know that at the end of this school year there will be a special transition meeting with her current teachers, her IEP team, and the kindergarten teachers to talk about the transition, put in place new accommodations for her, etc. Maybe I can just wait until that meeting and I’ll learn everything I need to know? I don’t even know what I need to know  I would understand if I was wavering between going to this school or a different one, but we are very solidly set on her staying at this school.

To me, that sounds okay to skip. With the cuckoo at home, these days, I find that we have to be selective about what we attend.

We do a cheese stick right before bed or a half peanut butter sandwich (the routine is eating after PJs while reading books, then a quick tooth brush and potty/diaper change and into bed).

I say skip! Especially since you have that meeting at the end of the year.

Letting them pick their macros out of a range of food options is The Way. Cultivates intuitive eating etc etc. Baby brains need a loooooot of fat to mylenate. Sometimes they’ll eat mainly fat. Then from like 2-5 yesrs old they’ll eat carbs 90% of the time and binge protein once per week lol. Normal normal normal.

B2 had a major good fats week. Like insisting on tuna in oil for breakfast and ignoring toast. Gobs of peanut butter, cheese, yogurt, peanuts (oops) and of course the usual butter if unattended and asks me. He ate that and frozen mango most of the week.

@Greyweld if you’re noticing something like mainly wanting cream cheese or butter and you want to mix it up, that’s when I try to think of something in the category that might work - i.e. B2 rejects avocado but took PB which pleased me because I wanted him not constipated. If he’d rejected it I’d still let him be butter powered.

Yes the true move here is to just make sure there’s not too much dairy fat so they’ll still poo :joy::sob::joy: gotta mix up the fat types. Milk and cheese for us = no poo, butter doesn’t have the same effect, coconut milk is lightly pro poo, kefir is fatty (if you get full fat) and very pro poo. The personal poo scale is the real trick to a toddler fat top up week IME.
