Nope! As far as I know they never ran any pregnancy tests on me either pregnancy. But - my first encounter with this practice was when I was already pregnant so (Last pregnancy).
Actually the first time I saw HSG results was when I had to go to urgent care for the sch and for some reason they did HSG as part of the blood work at that time (even though they also did an ultrasound and I was 12 weeks along already).
There are way too many acronyms with all this stuff esp if you don’t know the words behind them, and don’t know the word roots behind that, it’s so hard to keep it all straight.
Based on a million anecdotes, it seems that HCG is really only measured routinely if you are going through a fertility clinic.
All the other times I have had it measure or heard of being measured were for not good news (suspected or confirmed ectopic, miscarriage with complications, etc.)
Oh that’s true. I was supposed to have my HCG checked after my D&C for my MMC, as ordered by the OB. I just didn’t bother since I knew I’d track at home and wasn’t going straight back to treatment.
With my first I had my hcg measured a bunch because I tested very early on a modern aka v sensitive test and presented to the doctor with an HCG that worried him it was so low. He was being paranoid for me.
Generally when they confirm a positive if the HCG is in the expected range they won’t follow up
They did do HCG and it’s 14k, up from 195 in week 4 and on track! (I don’t think they’re trending it, it’s just in their standard panel I just happened to have that early one from fertility doc.)
I also passed my glucose tolerance, which is excellent in light of weight and PCOS Of course they’ll prob want it again around 20 wk but it wasn’t so bad? Except forgoing cough drops with a lingering cough.
I had HCG measured with my standard first blood panel for each pregnancy. Only time I had a follow-up was when we had to track it for a couple months after my partial molar miscarriage to make sure I didn’t have any tumour left.
I think I’m vomiting much later into this pregnancy than my first, and it’s been a big bunmer. It’s not nausea exactly, it’s very sudden onset. I am moderately sure that high FODMAPS foods are triggers, and that makes it even trickier because it’s unfamiliar to me. Unlike “vegan” or “gluten free” or “no soy” I am still learning what it entails, and moderate amounts are okay, except I’m not sure what moderate means.
This morning I made what I thought was a safe breakfast (egg and cheese and apple butter on English muffin). Five minutes later my body rejected it abruptly. But it was whole wheat muffins (store was out of white) and Spore was bouncing around in my lap, so maybe one of those things triggered it.
It feels like every meal and snack might backfire on me, which is very de-motivating. I’ve been fortunate enough to have no food restrictions prior to this, so it’s all new and I’m not great at managing it. It doesn’t feel like I have time to think properly about this during my workdays. And if I wallow in indecision too long, hunger nausea comes for me and I start to retch anyway.
Well, I’m drinking a very rich hot chocolate right now and eating cashews. Should be safe and full of proteins and fats, right?
My stomach has been okay for 2 days! All the food adjustments helped. So has getting some more maternity clothes that don’t pinch my stomach. (Last time I got big in spring & summer, so basically just wore dresses the whole time). I overcame my inner Scrooge and bought a maternity puffer on Poshmark.
Does anyone have recos for very cold weather maternity gear, especially pants/overalls? We get 20-30F (-7-0C) regularly for the next few months, and sometimes even lower. I see plenty of pants/tights, but the main brands’ options are mostly good for shoulder season.
On the 1000 hours outside group I see a lot of women use coveralls with two way zippers to let the tummy out, lol, then a big jacket over top. I’ll see if I can find brand reccs- that group is awesome for fear discussions.
ETA so annoyed I can’t find the specific post! It was a gold mine.
Ah layers! This is a good clue even if the specific posts/links aren’t available. I had honed my pre-baby wardrobe to some great options that had layers built in (like Uniqlo lined pants, and XC ski tights) but I guess I should embrace the bulk.
I also have to figure out some biz casual
options. Maybe even ones that obscure a pregnancy if I’m meeting a group of strangers and not ready to share with them yet. Good thing boxy tops are in.
Also my outdoor life hack was just that I turned into a MFing furnace and was regularly out in yoga pants, a light (men’s XL) sweatshirt, and gloves below freezing for walks lol. So personal suggestions are lacking because I was constantly so, so hot.
