On the fringes of violation

I really like this as a balance of space for education without space for shaming.

Can you give an example of good dogpiling?

Someone calls someone out, and then everyone congratulates theme for the callout. I understand that some people have asked for that to feel recognized for the hard work they did in calling out, but it derails the thread instead of just removing both posts and putting up ed resources.

Thank you for explaining.

I have to step off this thread again for the day to go to work; I will check in at lunch; please do not burn the place down while I’m gone

Can one of the “Education” threads be about fragility? This is kind of my pet soapbox, but I wouldn’t be even close to as far on my anti-kyriarchy journey if I hadn’t learned what fragility felt to me and how to/that I would eventually move through the discomfort and be able to process the information more intellectually. Learning that feeling defensive and mad and wanting to hit back when someone told me I was doing something -phobic made me less reactive and let me work through new information in a matter of weeks to months instead of feeling like I had to have a finalized answer in 5 to 30 minutes.

ETA: Learning that fragility isn’t a particularly helpful response, but is a very normal response helped me a lot.

Are you off work yet so we can bring out the torches and pitchforks?

I don’t think it’s even 4 pm yet portland time.

No. I am very much still at work. It is 3:21PM here. Only garden hoes, no pitchforks.

Oh fine. It’s pitch dark outside and the streetlights came on so I wanted to check.

Macela doesn’t actually want to burn anything down, it just got too dark out for her to use her pitchfork and she needs the torches to see by.

It will probably be pitch dark here in about…20 minutes. it gets pitch black about an hour and a half before the end of my working day now. I hate it.

I’m kind of surprised, because it’s not pitch black here yet at a time zone ahead and we have mountains to the west which tend to make it dark earlier than expected. But thinking about it it might end up getting “dim” at an earlier time but “pitch black” at roughly the same time because I dunno earth sunset math?

We’re right on the edge of the time zone + we’re at a way higher latitude. The further your latitude from the equator, the earlier it gets dark, also the closer you are to the edge of your time zone. I also have mountains. You don’t get all the mountains :joy:

It’s very definitely midnight seeming here. And my solar fairy lights will crap out in another half hour because they work so hard and get so little money

I like the idea of consistent processes.

I like the idea of clear rules and definitions. I’m also not sure whether all threads are owned by their OP, or just their journals, or just the ones one the journals section.

I was thinking about that too. And then, what is a “journal”?
