What size bags are you going for? I have big Ikea glass jars for my flour; it holds a 5lb bag just fine, but nothing bigger. They keep the ants out, though, which is clutch.
I have heard good stories about 5 gallon buckets for more intense bakers than I.
A 5lb-bag size jar would be perfect (I just couldn’t remember how big a standard bag of flour is, haha). I am not baking enough bread for a bucket to be a smart idea!
If you like seaweed snacks and have a Asian market nearby, you can get a nice big bucket with a screw top lid for like $5? Plus you get snacks. We keep rice in such buckets.
I think they might still have these in the stores, pretty sure I saw them therewithin the last year. We have them too. I use a skinnier one for coffee and a big one for my rolled up cloth napkins. If I had more counter space I’d love to have them for dry goods
Ooh. I do like seaweed snacks and excuses to go to H-Mart, but I’m not sure I like entire buckets of seaweed snacks. Will ponder. Thanks for the suggestion!
Ideally, though, flour storage containers would fit on my pantry shelves, so maybe 6" across? I have Rubbermaid containers currently, but don’t want to buy any more plastic. (I did also realize that I can put flour in the container currently holding rolled oats, which I no longer use enough to justify that whole container.)
I got them when an old housemate and I went on a mega-Ikea trip to fix a bunch of unnecessary problems at my old house. It was one of those trips where you spend a bunch of money and it’s actually a good call – I still have and use everything I got on that trip.
I’d love a good treadmill that can handle my stride length and hit a good incline. Planning on a trip to Machu Pichu soon and I need to up my cardio. People frequently get hit by cars if they run/walk outside around here, even on the sidewalk so I’d very much like to stay indoors.
I have booked flights to Mexico in July, and places to stay, and planned the things to do… But I still don’t have a way for us to get home. This is concerning.
I want a jogging pram. Then I will go jog with Duckling instead of plonking us all in front of TV in evening. But I do not want to research, sigh. Guess we’ll take a trip to a baby store this week.
The jogging prams all have warning labels that you are not in fact allowed to run while pushing a baby in them so may or may not actually be functional for what you want.
Da fuck. How do they get that past “truth in advertising”?!
Ok in that case I’ll go a trailer for my bike and we can do daily bike rides instead. Which I also need to get anyway, so that we aren’t so car dependant.
Ha, well looks like I’m a negligent parent then. I’ve had Baby PDM is our running pram since 6 months (basically waited until he could control his noggin). He loves it.
I entirely support the procurement of a running pram. Our one is the BOB Ironman - and it is far and away my favourite baby related purchase (closely followed by the ABC Book of Trucks Trains and Cars). It has BIG wheels - think BMX wheels, it rolls so smoothly, is basically an unstoppable beast.
They’re often available on Gumtree. Ours is an older model in blue, but I do lust after a new one in yellow.
I also like the BOB Revolution model (slightly smaller wheels, and the front wheel can be fixed/unfixed to make it better for everyday use).
If I had do a risk assessment of running stroller safety vs bike trailer safety, I would assess the stroller as way safer. Slower speeds overall, I have entire control of it (it even has a hand brake), little to no interaction with vehicles/traffic, very low risk of me ‘crashing’ while running, smaller footprint (those bike trailers end up making a long unwieldy vehicle).
And seems way more convenient. But I don’t have a dog in this fight. I just love my running stroller.
