It’s a fairly new window, on the second floor. Replacing it would be a few thousand. A window fan would be so much less drastic.
I want a new wallet. I have a nice Fossil one, but it is flowery/really bright patterned and I have had it since high school. It was very high school me, and very not 28 year old me.
I also want a new blanket for my bed. I have a really nice down comforter that is white, and no duvet cover. It is too hot for the comforter, but I can’t stand just sleeping under a sheet. I really want a cotton Pendleton blanket…but $200 is ridiculous in my mind for anything that is not related to my expensive sport hobbies. haha
Sorry for the late response to this. I got my cert because I was living in an ecovillage that was permaculture based, and I could get the cert without having to leave the community I worked in and lived in. At the time I wanted to stay living in community, so it was a valuable skillset to have.
Having worked on organic farms (permaculture design or not) I found that work was not for me. Backbreaking, poor pay.
I do think the permaculture cert is good IF you want to go into the design side, but the people that are successful or profitable in it usually have an additional design or architecture background and integrate the consultation with their consulting business. That way people that want it will seek out your firm for [landscape or garden design or architecture] if they want the permaculture perspective. Very few permaculture design jobs, in my experience, that are paid below the owner level, most are pretty work-trade or intern-y. But it isn’t a huge field.
I utilized my permaculture certificate when I worked in india with women’s farmers working on seed saving and seed collectives in Kanartaka and in designing the biological water and mitigation catchment for an industrial laundry facility in Goa but other than that I didn’t realize use it again though Permaculture design is sort of a “way of thinking” like liberal arts is a “way of thinking” so I’m sure I use it in my everyday work.
(Perhaps it’s a different person than I’m thinking of, I got my cert from an Australian rock star though!)
Hm, yeah, see, that is my fear. That it won’t lead to work that pays what I need to make. Most garden/urban ag related jobs that I found when I was last looking 3 years ago paid very poorly.
Sigh. Back to the drawing board. I don’t want to put out that kind of money if it doesn’t pay off (much as I’d like to take the course just out of my own interest, that is more than I can afford).
I’m glad I asked!
Wouldja lookit that. Someone posted an ad online for a fan that would fit the window. $15. I just picked it up. Does this thread have mystical powers?
Yes!
Can it give me the ability to not only find a decent quality affordable bike trailer, but also the bravery to actually reach out and talk to a stranger to buy one?
Yes.
I want Rothys really badly. They are literally the perfect shoe that could’ve come fully formed from the inside of my brain. They are $150. But one day I will achieve my dreams of Rothys ownership. If you have Rothys please elaborate on how much you love them so I can cry in hope and exasperation.
Meanwhile, someone on buy nothing posted a surge protector and extension cords, but someone else claimed them ten minutes before I saw it.
Did you perform the Objects of Desire spells correctly?
My fan is an old industrial one from a co struction site. Probably stolen. Filthy. I cleaned it up and it fits the window, but just barely. Another millimetre and I would be out of luck. But it fits and it works and it’s quiet and my room is delightfully cool.
And daisy is terrified of it, which is hilarious.
I REALLY want a new pair of hiking boots. My current ones are 15 years old. No reason not to get new ones, it’s just difficult to get out to a specialty shop that can fit me.
Chickens.
An entire day of no people and lots of naps. I’m treating myself to one next week.
I want ducks. Stupid medium density residential health regulations.
Aren’t you a duck??? And you have ducking. I checked the Brisbane Council rules. 6 poultry if coop kept 1m away from boundary fences.
Yes to both chickens and ducks.
Your councils may be weird about road reserves/ verges but that is so much more reasonable than mine for chickens.
More containers to store flour in. I currently have three kinds of flour (only because I ran out of whole wheat) and really only one container that is an appropriate size for an entire bag of flour. (Any recommendations?)
