Objects of Desire

Apparently a tablet is on the cards for me too. Something thats bigger than my phone to look at stuff on.

Lenovo Tab M10 Plus would do the job.

Ha, I have my list down to the M10 Plus vs Samsung S6 Lite. I don’t know if the $100 higher price for Samsung would buy me longevity to make up the difference. Android 9 vs Android 10, little bigger battery capacity and little more power/speed for the Samsung. I try to buy the device I think will last years longer but the specs on these aren’t different enough (and I don’t know enough) to jump straight to Samsung. Looks like Samsung supports ANT+ though so I can use it as a bike computer and it will play nice with my heart monitor :joy:

I love my tablet. My trusty Samsung Tab S2 8" died recently and I was super sad. I liked its size. Not too big, but bigger than a phone. I see it as the perfect media consumption device. I watch netflix on it, I read books on it.

I’m team tablet and think that they’ve been neglected as a product category now phones have gotten bigger.

It’s a $120 difference between the two for me here, and for longevity the Samsung looks to be a better choice.

I can see that. But don’t understand it now that I can’t read my phone while wearing contacts unless I also wear reading glasses :joy:

I made do with my macbook for a long time once the nook HD+ got too laggy for browsing, but laptop on the kitchen counter isn’t a smart choice for me, ha. And now, unrelated to any former kitchen use, the screen needs to be fixed anyhow so I may save that project for the kiddo and spend some $

I buy lightly used tablets. People tend to barely use them and sell them for cheap.
I like Samsung.

Today’s good mail day, objects of desire for my girls. Cute fantasy creature badges and stickers.

My only problem is I can’t read where you got these from. I need that chubby Phoenix for my aunt, who has a Phoenix tattoo that I said “looks like a chicken”.

Blackout coverings for the two 30"x60" windows in my bedroom that faces street lights.

I think I want roman shades (more coverage than the wooden blinds that came with the house, less allergy/dust fabric than full curtains). Or did I get brainwashed by 2018 home bloggers?

From Kickstarter, the creator is on Instagram, I tagged him in the post there. @skimlet is their username.

Lowe’s has very affordable cellular blackout shades. Cordless so no kid concerns. That’s what we’re doing to mega blackout the baby’s room.

I might need to buy these for everyone in my life. https://ca.theoodie.com/

Ooh, I like. Do you know how good they are at blocking light? We have a street light shining into these windows, and it filters through the slats of wooden blinds.

I’ve heard they’re very good. We don’t have them yet- wer’ee on our third batch of swatches, my husband is an optimizer hahaha- but I had similar ones as a kid I remember being really good. If they’re the in frame ones, virtually nothing gets around.

An eye test.

I can no longer focus on anything closer to me than two feet from my eyes. Only noticed it in the last fortnight when trying to read some fine print and do some prep work on some plastic models.

Due to our stage four lockdown (curfews, 5km radius travel limit, 1hr limit once a day on away from home base, non essential medical need) I can’t get tested. Eye clinic said call back end of September. Find out more on Sunday when the next announcement is made regarding our lockdown.

Boo. Can you go ahead and get some cheap readers to help in the mean time? Mr. Meer got some +1s after he started having eye strain last year (although I have no idea if reader types are the same on your side of the world).

You’re right I could, and I did

I tried some the other day but couldn’t decide which ones helped and which ones hampered. +1 or +1.5 is useful at the moment.
