Objects of Desire

You’re on. Land is cheap here, but there are no amenities. BYOI (Bring your own internet).

But we could have fast food if we wanted to risk the Ronas. Think that’s only an 8-mile drive, 5 if we go to the one place my husband hates.

Edit: added a frozen pizza and a bag of tortellini to the order.

I want these paintings.

I want that gorgeous in-the-woods feeling on m wall. Alas, it’s for sale in a place far from here and I would want to see it in person first.

A “real” bedframe. We’ve basically had our bed on a $20 metal frame since we moved in together in 2012. I want something with a headboard and maybe some under-bed storage so we have somewhere other than on a table near the dryer to put second bedding sets. Ikea might be a good option.

A job. That I felt valued at/in.

Haha, existential much?

  • a cider press
  • a fancy stand mixer
  • a fancy blender
  • a stick blender
  • an external SSD big enough to hold all my other drives

WORD.

(I suppose the not-old-people version of this is “mood”? Sis and bro think I’m an old for using “word” as a term of agreement)

I am much older than you, so WORD, YO.

Hrm, come to think of it since we moved in together 8 years ago it’s probably time for a new mattress as well.

I’m telling you, we gotta buy adjacent farms. With the exception of a job and a cider press, I got you.

Though, I’ve often daydreamed of a farmstead brewpub. BRB looking at land.

I still want this stupid butcher block kitchen cart that I wanted 6 months ago. I haven’t stopped wanting it, which is usually a sign that it is not an impulse purchase. It is on sale now…and my mom wants to give me $300 for my 30th birthday in 2 months…so I kind of want to buy it but also why is it so much money!

Samsung tablet

Or, a tablet. My old Nook HD+ isn’t cutting it anymore for recipe hunting.

Do I need a tablet? No, I have a phone. And paper. And pens and pencils. And I’m now firmly in the Netflix-playing-on-my-phone-while-I-cook mode anyway.

I don’t admit to myself very often that I’m a total tech junkie. My friends would never think that because I so rarely spend money on it, because I really really dislike the waste side of things.

I have a tablet and I love it. It’s my entertainment device. It stores music and plays Netflix and candy crush and books. That’s it. No texting or email or airbnb. It’s a toy and it makes me very happy.

That’s how I used my Nook! Music, Netflix, Candy Crush (which I forgot existed until you mentioned it because it’s only on that tablet) and books! Oh and recipes
