Objects of Desire

When we started the basement apartment project, I had a wishlist of stuff like towel warmer (because otherwise towels get mildewed if you don’t hang them out properly) and a vent in the kitchenette.

But everything is like $1000 each and we’re using the downstairs as an infrequently used guest space, and more stuff means more stuff that can break down the road, so now I’m not sure about all the extras anymore.

I want a new handheld vacuum cleaner. The primary purpose is to clean up cat litter. Any recommendations?

I’ve had a black&decker dustbuster just for cat litter for maybe five years? I picked it because it seemed less likely to be ruined by litter dust and so far it’s been a champ.

galliver that cut is fantastic! It would look so pretty on a lot of different body shapes :heart_eyes::heart_eyes:

It does! And the back and sleeves are stretchy so it’s SO comfy.

Oooh yes I need a Dustbuster for little messes around the house that feel like overkill to drag out the whole vacuum

@Clare-Dragonfly I really like my Black and Decker Lithium dustbuster! And I use it for litter all. the. time.

I recommend a 2-in-1 that converts from hand vac to cordless stick vac. I can’t recommend my Electrolux (it’s…ok.) The Bissel Ion looks nice? Kinda pricey though, iirc.

I door-in-door refrigerator. I mean, almost any newer fridge would be an improvement, I hate my fridge. But I realllllllly like this door-in-door thing. Very handy when you live with kids.

Whoa I had no idea that existed!

My cousin just got one. It’s even more impressive in person.

I wonder how long it would take for just opening and closing the little door to get old  I’d probably ruin any energy savings by being too wowed hahaha

@GJT have you used it yet?!?! I discovered I use mine all the time, not just when I’m canning. It’s such a handy tool.

Not yet, currently picking and freezing all our blueberries, that make it past the kids hungry mouths, in preparation of a blueberry jam.

I bought a cheap plastic one the second year I canned and I couldn’t believe how much easier it made everything. Like, so much faster, so much less mess.

I had never heard of that before and am very confused. Whyyyyyyyyy.

So you can very easily reach all the things you reach frequently. Makes the inside easier, too, because there is less crowding on the shelves.

But I can already very easily reach everything. I have arms!
