Reviving this thread because today I learned that Costco sells saunas?? One of my coworkers has one (her husband is Finnish and apparently it’s common in Finland to just have your own sauna?) and she loves it and now I want one
The neighbors around my parents block all went in on a mobile sauna (it’s on a trailer somehow?) and either you can join the rotation (for an unknown fee) or just book it for one night for $40 (fuel included)
So you should probably get it and then start a neighborhood sauna collective
omg that is BRILLIANT
My brother got one. We got to try it out over Thanksgiving. It was actually really, really nice! We grew up going to northern MN every summer, so we are sauna people.
Also he got the 2 person one but we squeezed 4 people in at one point. Don’t recommend that because I was worried about hitting the stove. But it was very spacious for 2 people!
We want one too the gym has one, but it would be nice to sauna during kid naps lol.
We have a sauna at home and love it! Way less upkeep than a hot tub and it feels soooo good for my arthritis or after a heavy workout. We have a barrel style very similar to the Costco ones. They ship them flatpack and it took us about a day to put it together. Ours was marketed as “seats 2-4” and it’s very comfy with 2, with 4 people you need to be, uh, comfortable squeezing in. We’ve done as many as 5 with very close friends before though. I wish we had gotten the bigger size! Ours was about $5k and has a 6kw heater.
You do need to have enough oomph to power it and the electrical cost to hook it up would have been about $1000 (panel expansion, wiring). We got lucky because my FiL is a retired electrician.
How much electricity cost does it cost to run it for you?
ETA ours would be expensive AF too lol, we’d need to pour a concrete slab in addition to the electrical panel modification.
I am honestly not sure! We haven’t measured it and our electrical bill fluctuates a lot any way because we also have an electric kiln…
your bill must be brutal some months!
Guilty as charged Though overnight electricity costs aren’t actually that bad here!
Christie’s is auctioning some items from the Iris Apfel estate. So much fun jewellery. I think they’re low on the estimates there.
omg her glasses. drool.
Those estimates feel wildly low.
yeah, like missing zeros
Right?
My delusional self has bookmarked a few in the hopes of purchasing.
I know zero about fashion and think those prices are crazy low
