Well, it was an individual seller, so who knows… maybe she’s been laid off due to Covid & trying to scrape an income together.
I just was NOT expecting that. Lol. Also not lol.

Do they sell pets?! The one near us has shelter cats, but that’s it.
Come to think of it, this might actually be part of California law…
I don’t believe PetSmart sells dogs or cats in any state, although they do partner with various adoption agencies and I don’t know their specific vetting policies. I can say that the ones near me are all working with legit rescues that I’ve worked with in other capacities, and they’ve got a PetSmart charities page that I think would let you check who they’re working with in your area. And they definitely sell small mammals/birds/fish.
And just realized that this should have been directed to @bucketsofrain
I may be thinking of the wrong pet store chain, sorry. There are two in college town (or were), and it may be the other that has the issues- can’t remember what it is now.
My girl is from a Petsmart adoption. She was there via a local shelter that is out in the boonies so probably nobody really knows about them.
I really think I must have the wrong pet store chain. Sorry, everybody.
No, you’re not wrong. Cats and dogs are now adoptions, but their small animals are usually not ethically sourced or cared for. Ferrets are a huge one, as well as fish. People usually only pay attention to cats and dogs, though.
Mine only has cats I think, will look next time. The guy who checked me out said goodbye to her, but I’m also in a small town
ETA just because I had a good experience doesn’t mean everyone has
This is an excellent point. Rats, mice, birds, fish are all still animals! and they’re certainly kept in very tight quarters, at the minimum.
And birds. The Petsmart store I worked next to did source from local breeders but I don’t know that they all do.
I’ve placed a few orders on https://www.thebookbundler.com/
It’s like someone going to half price books for me.
I’ve been happy with them, and used books on amazon often end up expensive due to shipping.
Tea lovers! There’s some excellent bulk/clearance sales going on at Jasmine Pearl Tea Company:
https://thejasminepearl.com/clearance/
Oh that’s exciting! I love Jasmine Pearl!!
Yeah, between this and the OMD tea release, I’m just going to have a large tea budget this month!
Not surprising but still horrifying:
Not surprising at all. No one wants to buy something that’s been opened already.
They have their “warehouse” deals; but for most products, the amount of labor to inspect and repackage an item already been sent out isn’t worth it to the company.
I’m bad about buying and returning clothes (because nothing fits)- but doing so with online retail is so wasteful.
(Walmart actually doesn’t even have you return a lot of things anymore. They just refund you.)
Safiya Nygard (and a lot of youtubers, but I like her) did a video where she purchased a pallet of Amazon returns that were being liquidated. One of the things was a razor, with hair in it. Which is disgusting.
Also- it’s creepy that people bought things that had been planted with GPS trackers. That’s one reason amazon probably doesn’t sell much stuff that’s gone out of their warehouses…
Anyone have a go-to retailer for compression socks? Can be sporty or plain. My last two pairs are wearing very thin or sprouting holes, and I’m very tired of trying to fuck around with the small selection in the RX section of grocery/drug stores. Needs to be at least 20 mmHg, graduated compression and knee length.
You could order through an rmt or similar? Not me right now… But half my colleagues
Recommendations for a good general cash-back credit card that’s not the Chase Amazon card?
We almost never fly and never stay in hotels currently, so travel rewards aren’t particularly useful.
I was thinking of the Costco Visa from Citi
Bank of America has one that has a 3% back category of your choosing, then 2% groceries and wholesale and 1% everything else. I’m not sure if Costco is listed as one of the wholesalers but if it is this beats the Costco citi card unless you would benefit from the 4% gas cash back there. I have a few friends that really like the Citi Double Cash card that’s 2% everything. AmEx has a 3% groceries 2% gas 1% everything else. Those are all no fee cards.
